I need help! I have a 91 4runner with 248,000 miles, 5 speed V6 (engine was rebuilt last year and has less than 10k miles on it). I was on my way out of town a few weeks back and it died on me. The morning before, I was leaving my house and it stalled out for a split second then jump started right back up. A mile down the road, it did it again. I changed the fuel filter that afternoon and thought it was good. The next morning, I loaded up the kids and we were off on an off road adventure. We made it about 10 miles away and it stalled out again (I was going up a nice long grade) and took a little longer to bump start. Kept going and it did it again but would not start back up. I coasted backwards down the hill to a turn around spot. Once I was facing down hill, it fired right up so we continued on our journey. We made it another mile before it cut out again. I was able to get it off the road and figured I needed a fuel pump. I pulled the check engine codes (no light on) and it was flashing a code 12. I had it towed home. I checked the distributor and it read
G1-G 493 ohms
G2-G 495 ohms
NE-G 235 ohms
I have since checked every distributor I can find in junk yards and auto parts stores. None of them seem to check out good, not even the new (not rebuilt) distributor I bought yesterday (G1-G was 523 ohms). I have replaced the ECM, coil and igniter (all from junk yards). I checked the voltage from the ignition switch to the ECM. It has 9.4 volts while cranking The truck has been sitting in my driveway for 2 weeks now and will start up every morning. I can turn it on and off a couple times or let it idle for 45+ seconds and then it dies. After that, it will not start again until the next day. I can smell fuel when I try to crank it and I can hear the fuel pump turn on when I jump it at the diagnostic box. If I can not figure out the problem soon, I am going to have to take it to a shop (I have not taken any vehicles to a shop in more than 20 years)........another question I have is Are there any GREAT Toyota shops in the San Diego area?
Thanks for any and all help

You might consider replacing the EFI relay , or see if your getting power through it. Then, ohm out the knock sensor.

how does it run when it stats. does it idle down to under 1000 rpms? can yo u drive it? if so does it fell like it has less power than it suppose too?
