Engine fuse keeps blowing?

I have a 1989(1st gen) 4runner with a chevy 350 V8 and for some reason my engine fuse keeps blowing, and sometimes the starter doesn't turn over at all, not even a click or anything. I went and got the battery tested and it is ok so its not that. Could someone tell me why this is so?

A fuse blows when you have a short, or when the circuit it protects draws more current than the fuse is rated for. Start checking your wiring for a pinched/smashed wire, loose/corroded ground connection, etc.

Could the starter be going south and drawing more than it normally would? How many miles do you think are on the engine / starter / drive train?

I had a similar problem with a windshield wiper motor. Kept blowing fuses and eventually went completely out.

My starter and flywheel are brand new, could it be the starter relay? thanx for the help guys.

Some of the things on the Engine fuse are:
inst cluster, pwr windows, neutral strt sw, ECT computer, O/D indicator, B/U light sw, seat belts, haz flashers,

if you are also using the GM alternator it has a built in voltage regulator so you are going to blow the main fuse you need to unhook the toyota regulator or get an alternator without a voltage regulator

check and double check your engine/batt/frame/body grounds
