It's 5.5 qt for the 4.0L v6 with a new filter
hmm, if it's only 5.5 qt, the stealer's svc dept cheated again - just had 1st oil chg done at (Woburn Foreign Motor/Toyota), fast lube. they chrg'd a little extra than advertised - invoice read about 6 quart as parts, maybe over 6 - i just couldn't make sense out of that invoice on the breakdown. the total w/ coupon is about $24 which wasn't bad but i thought i was surprised their indicated engine oil vol exceeded the total capacity that i remembered from the manual.

even that i am not sure about. for me it's hard to tell the difference just by the color of oil before and after i'd the oil chg done.
most places i get oil chgd done in the past at least show what brand of oil they used on the reminder sticker they placed on the windshield - this latest one only reminded me to come back in 3000 miles. yeah right!
You might want to work out changing your own oil. For some it's not possible but if you can it's worth the effort. It's not difficult and you may find that doing it yourself is worth the effort... and you'll be sure you got the right oil and poured it in the right hole. The process will get you under the hood to check things for yourself.
Two oil changes ago I discovered a nail in a tire. It looks ok, not sagging, but the pressure was 25psi when I keep them at 36psi. I'm glad I found it in my driveway and not out on the road somewhere.

i thought about DIY then i read on this forum about failed jack crushing someone's head under the truck like a watermelon 
i know with the right tool and procedure that'd not happen and it'll be a good learning experience for a pig like me. then i look at how much to get it done and it doesnt sound like there's a huge margin for the shops in doing this. again i agree DIY should be the way to go if i'd the tool and gut ...
