Engine overheated. Is it ok?

So I was driving down the freeway when my wife noticed a little steam coming from the engine. I didn't know what it was so I looked down and noticed my temp gauge just over half. By the time I got to the right lane and found somewhere to pull over, my temp got to 3/4. I shut engine off right away. My top radiator hose somehow slipped right off the radiator with clamp intact.

I put the hose back on and filled it with radiator fluid and drove home. Engine seemed smoothe with no issues. Idles fine also. No smoke from exhaust.

I have a 4.0 and have read the threads about head gaskets on the 4.0.

Has anyone overheated with no issues? Should I be woried?

I lost about 1.25 gallons of radiator fluid.

That's very very bad! Sorry to scare you but it only takes one time overheating for the V6s aluminum block to warp. From how it sounds, your temp may not have been hot enough to cause permanent damage. Your head gaskets might be fine since you know it was just the hose that slipped off. I would still have it towed if I were you, but of course that's your decision; having experienced it yourself.

3/4 at the temp gauge you should be fine.

I would replace both upper and lower radiator hoses and buy new already diluted Toyota antifreeze and add that.
