Entune Keeps Crashing

Reading thru makes it sound like an iphone problem. I have an 18 TRDOR and my radio crashed like one time... I think?

I have an s7 and I never have issue (only with amazons terrible music app).

*resisting urge to bash people that buy iphones post 5s*

That being said. Stock head unit is trash even when it does work. I will swap to a phone mirroring headunit when the money is right. Looks like iphone users have a more justifiable reason to swap it.

Also like how they cheaped out and put a tiny screen in with gigantic "mechanical" buttons to fill in the space.

Haven't had these issues using an iPhone 6S or an 8.
Etunes crashed once in my '15 ORP and reset it's self, and never gave me another problem. (can't say it was caused by my phone, as i was using it when it did it, and I didn't lose my call)
SirrusXM on the other hand sucks. the signal drops out about once ever half hour, even with completely open skies.

Android User here-Pixel XL....When I stream music with Google Music it starts a song, three seconds later it restarts. When I turn up the volume it goes back to the beginning of the song. It does that with the steering wheel controls and with the controls on the dash. Why is the volume control making it skip songs? (rhetorical question)

And then sometimes it works just fine.

Check Toyota's download site and compare the newest Entune version to the version installed in your truck. Easiest way is copy to a USB stick and run thru the setup. It will tell you if it's newer or not.

I just installed the updated software in my 2015 TEP and it stopped the crashing (it crashed occasionally when I played music from my iPhone via Bluetooth). One week and counting so far without any crashes. I remain hopefully optimistic.

Thanks! I did the update on mine about a week and a half ago and haven't had a crash since!

Mine has been crashing a lot recently, but only when I place an outgoing call (whether I use the entune screen or my iPhone). No rhyme or reason to why it does this, anyone have answers other than the firmware "update" at the dealer?

Check DarkPassengers post. Fixed mine crashing by doing the update myself with his link. Took less than 20 minutes from loading the website to completing the update in the truck.

My 2018 Entune has problems, also. Spoke with my dealership and they mentioned that Toyota is working with Apple for a fix. Most of the problems are related to using Entune associated with an Apple product. The dealership is hoping a fix will be out soon.

This would be awesome if it ever gets the go-ahead.

Not that I'm having issues, but I checked and it said there is an update available for my '18 TRD ORP, and I can download it, but the system doesn't see the file on the USB drive.

I've reformatted one USB drive, and used the one with my startup and screen off images, and it doesn't even see the USB drive.

I have had this problem through every firmware and software update since I bought my T4R in 2015. I do think it has happened more with my iPhone X. I'm averaging at least once a week on outgoing calls. It's very very annoying. The dealerships can't fix it.

My kingdom for a 5th gen trail with Apple CarPlay and push button start. Keep everything else the same.

Looks as if the big fix is coming on 13 November. Received an email from Toyota that the update will be available then. Several app's, such as Pandora plus several others, will no longer be available with the Entune app suite. Oh well. Such is life.

I’ll be surprised if there isn’t a class action over Entune and the loss of features. This is a premium option upgrade that folks paid for. They ought to at least give 5 years of free premium XM service to compensate. I for one used paid Pandora almost exclusively even as buggy as it was. Still do via BT but it’s not as convenient. It would be nice if someone would hack the thing and offer a sort of jailbreak O/S for it. If I recall from the software license, the thing runs on Linux.

there's no way there isn't something that says toyota reserves the rights to change apps and send updates

also it wasn't toyota's choice, they said the 3rd parties were dropping support. if toyota hadn't updated entune to remove the apps you would have just been stuck with apps in the menu that didn't work. not sure about opentable but i'd bet Pandora is related to them just being bought by SiriusXM.

November 13th...

... This morning an update for the Entune app on my phone was available for a download... so I updated it. iPhone 6S.

Then, on my way to work I received and installed an update to Entune in my 4Runner - no drama there either.

FWIW... I was having a lot of crashes with Entune until early this past spring when I downloaded and installed the update from Toyota's website via USB... not a single hiccup or crash since then. YMMV.

Good luck.
