Entune Mandatory Update this Morning May 2016

Entune update announced when I started my 2016 4Runner this morning at 1000 Nevada time. Simple push permission update downloaded/installed successfully in about 10 minutes. Not obvious what update covered but Sirius and Nav worked as usual on 30 minute drive.

I just spent about 20 minutes speaking with two dealers and neither had any knowledge of or about Entune upgrades, one specifically telling me that 'stuff is too complicated for us to deal with in detail'. Spoke with a rep at Toyota 1-800-331-4331 who acknowledged there is no specific page of info that would tell me what the upgrade covered, but it likely covered the apps like Slacker and Pandora "to make sure they work as they are supposed to work". I explained that, for example, when Apple issues an OS update I can go to their website and get an idea of the changes covered and decide about proceeding, then asking if Toyota has such a page to check and was told "No". Rep did say it was a good idea to just accept the upgrade, and I :yield:

I still have yet to see it. Even did the setting, general, SW update look and nothing. Checked update history in case it had installed auto. No history. And I've been in the vehicle off and on fairly frequently over the last 2 days

If you haven't already tried start the vehicle and make sure the Entune app on your phone is open at the same time. I don't know if this will make a difference or not but worth a try.

I don't use my phone with Entune??? So is this just something associated with phone use ???

Yes it is, it will update your headunit Entune apps thru the Entune app on your phone.
If you never use that function/apps on your headunit, then it matters not in your situation.

I want Siri push-to-talk on my 2015... should be a simple thing to retrofit.

Here's something interesting to prove it's not a firmware update..

I performed the mandatory update when it was issued a couple of days ago and then ran through deleting all my personal data through the console. This seems to reset things back to somewhat of a 'factory default' as shortly after it completed I was required to 'initialize' the apps like I did when I first got my T4RTE back in Feb. Since that initialization, I haven't seen any updates, making me think it was purely an application update and did not include firmware.

Just an FYI for those who might be curious.

FWIW, this thread reminded me to contact Toyota to see if Siri Eyes Free would somehow be retrofitted to previous Toyota models with the push to talk switch - couldn't be that hard?

Anyways... the rep said that Toyota has no plans as of right now.

I picked up my new 4Runner at the dealership on Thursday, and as the guy was showing me how to hook my phone to Entune, the update popped up. So I'm up to date!

FWIW, this thread reminded me to contact Toyota to see if Siri Eyes Free would somehow be retrofitted to previous Toyota models with the push to talk switch - couldn't be that hard?

Anyways... the rep said that Toyota has no plans as of right now.

Just reinforces my next vehicle purchase to go with the lowest end stock radio and upgrade with aftermarket!

New software not compatible with the system

I got an update a week ago about software update on my head unit and last Friday I got an update on my entune phone app. Now after the update I keep getting "New software is not compatible with the system" everytime the head unit boots up. Anyone else got this error?anyone knows a fix besides going to the dealer?

I got it first thing this morning also..I was noticing my Pandora was "skipping" ( my kids don't understand how a CD skips SMH). It hasn't done it since. Also entune would randomly restart while driving. Let's see if this fixes the issue.

I got that message about a week ago myself. Told it to update now and it went right through it quickly. Don't know what it updated though.

Apparently I'm required to reply before posting a new request.

My 2015 TRD Pro is having Entune reset issues. Dealership wants $60 for the file to update the firmware. Does anyone happen to have it? It could not be simpler to update.

The file is: 13TDANNA-DA00_0212.kwi.

Details on how to update it are available in T-SB-0035-16, which you can google.

It's about as complicated as inserting a tape into a VCR and pressing play, and a classic example of 'stealership' tactics.

Really appreciate it if someone could help.
