Entune phonebook problem

Over the last few weeks I've run into an issue with bluetooth calls, where I will press the steering wheel button for voice commands and say call xx, and I will get 1 of 2 responses:

1. The phone book is empty
2. The phone book is syncing (never ending)

I've had the 4Runner since it was new and never had this problem before. Using an iphone 6 and the problem first started with Entune 5.1 - did the update to 5.2 and still happening.

If I go into the phonebook manually, I can see all my contacts so not sure where the disconnect is.

Thoughts? I will probably give Entune support a call later this morning.

Have you tried deleting the phone from the Bluetooth list and re-connecting it?

Yes, forgot to mention that. Tried that many times.

Make sure you aren't showing the quick contacts list on the home screen. For some reason showing quick contacts causes weird problems with text messaging etc. I only show audio and nav on the home screen.

You can also bypass the Entune lady (I call her "Marge") and long press the "phone off the hook" button on the steering wheel to wake up Siri. Siri is better than Marge.

I seem to be able to get my phone book, but not any messaging (iPhone7). I assume they havent updated entune yet for the Iphone7

The update I mentioned, 5.1 to 5.2 - is for the head unit, not the app.

I don't think 2013 had quick contacts on the home screen, or if it has the ability, I've never done it Thanks for the tip for Siri though, that may be a workaround.

Others have added helpful tips, too. After spending too much time figuring out all the quirks I actually find that Entune works great. I installed an aftermarket head unit but eventually yanked it out and went back to the factory head unit because I like it so much.

Unfortunately I have the "show notifications" on and it does not work still. From reading around on this forum and others it seems to be an issue with Entune keeping up with phone technology.
