Entune problems!

I love my 4Runner. BUT I HATE THE ENTUNE SYSTEM.

My 2017 TRD Pro is amazing. But the Entune likes to shut off on its own randomly, but most of the time it shuts off when I am trying to make a call on my phone through bluetooth. It never has shut off/reset on its own when someone calls my phone and i answer. Only when I make outgoing calls. It's really annoying.

My car is still under factory warranty and I plan on having them take a look at it and solving the issue when I take my car in for its next service. Anybody have any idea how to fix this? Or why this happens?

Anybody go through something similar and care to share your experience and how you fixed it?

I recently bought a 2019 4runner Premium with Entune infotainment system. I only have 900 miles on the vehicle, and the navigation system is defective. During a recent trip; while using the navigation system, the screen went from map to home screen. I selected navigation repeatedly to return to map mode.
Toyota should issue either a TSB, or a recall to correct this obvious defective hardware/ software problem.

The Entune / Nav / phone system is crap. There are countless threads dealing with a host of problems over the years since the 5th Gen came out. If you use this type of integrated system; you will be better off and a whole lot happier if you go aftermarket and replace the whole unit.

There are vendors out there that make plug and play systems for the 5th Gen 4Runner and several threads by folks here that have installed them. A little searching should get you a ton of info and choices.

There have been some people's issues solved by doing updates; but more often than not, a problem is solved; only to be replaced by another.

I doubt Toyota really cares about making this system better - or they would have years ago.

You know there is a setting on the head unit that makes it return to home automatically, right?

Agreed Entune is terrible. Definitely a neglected part of the Toyota design.

If you think the gremlins are bad with Entune then you may not want to see the Uconnect offered by Dodge/Chrysler. My father-in-laws Jeep Cherokee's center stack goes completely blank with no way to control your radio or hvac settings. The only fix up to this point has been pulling over, turning off the vehicle and starting it again. Updates by the dealer, factory defaulting and simply disconnecting the battery have not helped. Unfortunately, it seems the software programming for the center stack function is an after thought at best and probably farmed out.
