Didn't understand anything after the word Pandora, but I've been in a rental car for the past couple of months and I'm just really happy that toyota's infotainment system is user friendly. Or maybe I just understand it because I'm a fanboy
 
I was all looking forward in having Pandora while traveling out of town in my 4 Runner. Running Pandora off blue-tooth is not the same because you can't skip songs or change stations on the touch screen.

With the hands free law currently in place in GA, this is going to suck on having to touch your cell phone while in driving.
 
Bit surprised that so many people use Pandora. IMO, Google Play Music, Spotify and Apple Music are all better. Particularly Google Play Music's AI is very helpful for finding music.

It’s an extremely compressed format. It sounds like shit in our 340i as well with the Harmon Kardon. Spotify with the equalizer settings changed make my 4runner sound great with the focal front speakers.
 
Is Entune really that bad? I have an ‘07 but looking to upgrade this year. I was sad to hear the 2019 didn’t have CarPlay, but didn’t think Entune would be useless.

While its not the same as touching the screen, use the steering wheel buttons instead of touching your phone. They work just fine.

One thing I've noticed (apologies if it's already been covered) is that the volume control is set for each audio source. Really find that out when you are scrolling thru presets between FM and XM. So, maybe that's your volume issue? And maybe not. I haven't used my bluetooth audio much, and never used iHeart, Slacker, or other streaming sources.

The Entune issue is all a matter of perspective. I just picked up a 2018 4Runner SR5 after retiring my 1999 Land Cruiser that's been my daily driver for the past 15 years.

My Land Cruiser had a broken FM antenna and no Bluetooth.

Entune is awesome!
 
I find it interesting that people buy first and complain later. It is easier if you do the research up front listing pros and cons to determine what is worth having.
An extremely reliable, capable off road vehicle or one with a great party mode but will leave you stranded?
 
I’ve been using Amazon music. If you have Amazon Prime it’s great. Select high quality audio in the app settings and it sounds great through Bluetooth. All song information is displayed, you can advance songs with the steering wheel controls and you have unlimited skips. If you like Pandora, you can control it through Siri, if you have an iPhone. Use the Siri hands free option on the steering wheel to control it.

I have Amazon Prime and I was given six skips. Are you thinking Amazon Music?
Also it doesn't let me select different genre of music unless I'm doing something wrong but the sound was great.

I personally don't care for the etune. I already pay for satellite radio, Why would I use phone data to use in the station wagon? Last thing I need in my life is Facebook on my dash. Have yet to find anything etune does that is even worth me linking my phone.

Yeah, Amazon Music is an extra membership thing and you get access to all the songs and unlimited everything. Amazon Prime gives you limited access to amazon music. I would recommend spotify. Spotify immediately starts back up (dont have to open app) every time the bluetooth links when I get in and out of the 4runner. It's the little things in life...

I guess it comes down to how much you’re in the car and whether you like talk radio vs music. Music subscription services allow offline downloading and they help you find music you will like; Google is getting scary good at artificial intelligence. Afaik, A household worth of unlimited music is less than $15.

Normally I'm in the car to drive, not to download music, check weather or see how many likes i get for starting the engine and I will cut my own arm off before I sign up for anything "google". I just want to turn on the radio and hear music, not have a second MOS down loading songs I have already bought three times over my lifetime. But that's me.
 
I agree with you. I've been keeping it simple with Entune. I just plug in a USB stick with tons of music and that's it. Works perfectly - except when the old version could resume a song, the new version starts from the beginning. Pathetic software error!

No streaming crap, no reading texts, no phone through the car audio.

I listen to the radio and I call on my phone; period.
 
It's interesting that so many people use the touch screen and Entune? Pandora and Spotify can be controlled through steering wheel controls. Navigation is off your phone. Bluetooth picks up your phone calls. Touch screen to switch to FM when you want to hear commercials lol.
