ESPDTRD12 finally a build thread

So I finally had a little time to start on my build thread. I have to say my 4runner has come a long way from a bone stock 2012 TE KDSS, Nav w/entune. I was the second owner of this truck and when I purchased, it had a measly 6k miles. Long story short I have been a Toyota owner for 10 years. Started with a tacoma which was an awesome truck and also had a 4runner TE non KDSS but things happen and ended up selling one after the other. Deployments and other things got in the way and happy to say I found this gem. She is my second 4runner and this is how she started.

So I had the truck stock for about 5 months and then started to get the mod bug. First I blacked out all the emblems and purchased 265 70 17 Cooper ATP's with some MB 12's wheels to give it the look I thought I wanted at the time. At this time I was getting ready for deployment and my truck went on hold for a few months.

September 2014 - So while on deployment I was already thinking of getting back to my 4runner and was still reading all the awesome build threads and information on T4R.ORG. Believe it or not this was my stress reliever after a long day. I came across some of the build threads and I knew I wanted sliders but also a step to accomodate my son which was smaller at the time. Shrockwork sliders came to mind and ordered them while I was gone. Wait time was 4 months and guess what that is how much time I had to get back. Worked out perfectly, and this is what she looked like after the install.

October 2014 – Time goes on and still have the mod bug, decided to add VLED’s throughout the truck, graco mat thanks to TRDPRORUNNER, and purchased a used pelican case from craigslist for my tools.

Fast Forward to December, 2014 and bought ICON Stage 2 lift during the Christmas special. Awesome lift to this day. If your on the fence to purchase don’t be.

MAR 2015 - Three months later the 265 70 17’s were looking a bit small and went ahead and purchased 285 70 17 Goodyear Duratracs to fill in the wheel wells. These tires ride smooth on highway and are holding up well rotating tires every 5,000 miles.

So I came across an awesome deal I could not pass up. I have always loved the GOBI rack but was too expensive for me, not to mention the wait time. I went ahead and purchsed GOBI roof rack w/ladder from a member on here (INVICTUS) AKA Matt. He is an awesome guy and even drove the rack down to me and help install it.

APR 2015 - Installed Dark Gray Metallic Vinyl Hood Wrap and went to a local state park and rode my Mt bike around. This was an awesome day!

JULY 2015 – After waiting two weeks I finally received my TRD shift knob. This is a great addition if you have older TE model and want to upgrade that big clumsy shift knob. No modifications to this one needed.

August 2015 – Ordered off of Amazon and finished installing rigid industries D2 driving led lights. Mounted the brackets on bumper and the rest is history. Really like how they turned out. Also, thanks to eddiebx for this great lil mod. Headlight Bulb Conversion (H11 to H9 & 9005 to 9011). Noticeably brighter light and easy mod thanks to dremel. And last but not least installed my gobi ladder.

In the same month, went to a local camp to run. Decided to finally take some descent photos of my rig. Also jumped on the Toyota emblems giveaway and installed.

Thanks to some thieves I had to order a new rear 4runner emblem. I guess they thought my blacked out plasti dp'd 4runner emblem was custom, SMH! Only difference is that this one came painted silver and not chrome. I really like it so left it as is.

Although, the mod bug has slowed up a bit due to work and having to be on the road. I recently finished driving up the east coast to Rhode Island and a few other places.
It has been a really nice drive with great views, I just wish I had time to actually explore. Prior to leaving I purchased raingler nets for my gear on the roof rack. 4Runner was loaded up to the brim inside and if you notice, the Icon springs held up great when loaded. Truck handled great and was nice and level.

Finally in Rhode Island, pulled over to enjoy the nice view. Wish I had JBLICK skills!

This is what I have done so far. Thank you all for the inspirations and the help of building my truck. In the few years of ownership she has been an outstanding vehicle to drive and most important, very reliable. I have driven her with no worries and look forward to many more years even though I do like the newer 4Runner as well. Stay tuned…
