Any Results Yet?

Has anyone completed their homework and run 2 or 3 tanks of pure gasoline yet, and any reports of MPG or perceived power increase?
Inquiring minds want to know.
BTW, I was in southern Utah/northern Arizona last week where the price per gallon differential for regular vs non-ethanol was 75 cents (that’s the 91 premium). At that price I’d have to get a 25% increase in MPG to make it economical.

Saving money on gas wasn't the point, after all we bought 4Runner instead of Prius. The point is to feel the difference in the way your truck drives, improvement in MPG (1.2 MPG for me) is just a bonus.

We have quite a few ethanol-free options where I live but we're a Gulf coast town and have tons of boats in the county. I will fill my T4R with ethanol free if I need fuel and am already at a station for my boat but hardly ever consecutive tanks.

HOWEVER, I do tend to run 89 ethanol-free in my 2007 Mustang GT (not my DD and it's tuned for 89). About 10 years ago I experimented with ethanol-free vs "standard" fuel, driving 800 miles round trip every other weekend. I used the same stations to fill up each trip and pretty much ran the same speeds each trip, using cruise control (other than the sprints up to 130-140).. I did this for about 14 months so I had reasonable data.

I averaged about 2 MPG higher with ethanol-free fuel and definitely better seat-of-the-pants performance.

I remember losing about 10% mpg when ethanol was added about ten or so years ago.

I tried ethanol free gas and feel like there is a noticeable improvement in shifting and acceleration. It also improved my gas mileage by about 1 mpg.

We have lots of Maverick stations here in CO with 88 octane ethanol-free gas which is what I use for my snowblower and other gas powered equipment. Never bothered to try on the 4runner but may try on next fill up.

Being that Costco E10 91 octane is the same price or cheaper (right now it's at least $0.30 cheaper compared to E0), which one would you all run if those were the two available choices?

Murphy gas

Hello All,

From my understanding, Murphy Gas is not Top Tier gas and I don't use it, but would that be the same for the Ethanol Free 87 version? The only stations around me that offer EF is the Murphy stations. Thanks.

Casie's and Hy Vee stations all cary E Free gas, also many QT stations carry it. I was sold on this stuff while price diff was about 30 cents. Now it is nearly 70 and there is no reason for it to be that much more $ than same grade 10% corn stuff. Supply and demand I guess...

My local Casey's stopped carrying the Ethanol free gas around November...was that for winter? I couldn't tell any difference but liked that it was pure gas.

Same here and the Maverick is closer to me. Just can’t justify the added expense for the imperceptible performance increase. It’s almost $0.80 more than Costco regular which works just fine in my truck.

I tried Ethanol free and did not notice a difference in performance or gas mileage. I do know from experience that small engines, mowers, generators, trimmers all last longer if you use ethanol free gas.

I would most likely buy EF if it were readily available in my immediate area. The closest places are 30+ miles away. I heard that QuikTrip may build a new store very close to my neighborhood and I believe they typically have EF. They will be my new go-to store for gas (sorry Valero) if they do.
