EXCESSIVE heat coming from center console

After laying it over the console area and marking a spot to cut a slit for the lever to come through, I slipped the large piece between the linkage plate and floor the loosely "sketched" around the plate but mades sure to do it about 2" outside the edge so that once installed it would leave a little slack in the middle to allow moment in the shift lever. Here's the finished product.....

Did you not see the post where he explains the issue?
Remove the console covers and look for missing boots. (start with the e-brake surround and work forward, pulling straight up)

I just bought a 1998 automatic Toyota 4runner limited and there is excessive heat coming through the vents, floor, dash, and middle console, I've read a lot of the comments in this forum and seeing that a lot of people have manual and have a possible solution. I have disconnected the heat switch, the heater doesn't work anymore, the ac hasn't worked in years (says the person I bought it from).
Is there a panel or heat gaurd missing that I should be looking into? Any videos anyone can suggest for the parts and fix. Please help! My toes are burning off!

Any chance your heater valve is stuck open? Meaning that once the coolant gets hot, it's flowing through the heater core and warming up the dash when it should not be? Although that would not explain the heater not working.
So does that mean nothing about the climate control works?
I agree with above....having had one that was stuck open.
when you say does not work, do you mean the fan motor does not. could be controls or the motor itself. try hitting the motor. I had one quit on me, hit it and it worked....made lots of noise...only had to last a few days while waiting for new motor.
if your heater valve is stuck,,,,they are very brittle..so be ready to replace.
ive only used oem for the heater valves and motor.
also I did not see if yours is a limited with electric controls. or if you have manual controls. The electric climate control can be iffy at times and you often hear of people rebuiling them and even offer a rebuild service for them.
