Exhaust pipe question

Right now I have a cherry bomb extreme muffler on with no piping on afterward. I'm going to a shop over Christmas and getting pipes worked out to the back on the side and I want to order a tip. The pipe will be 2.5". Do I buy a 2.5" tip if it's a clamp on. Or do I buy a size bigger like 2.75". If I weld one on should I get a 2.75" so it Fits over and can weld from there.

If there gonna do weld then just get either or..

Get a 2.5" tip.

If it's a slip on it will have an adjustable end that fit's over the pipe which you will clamp down on. If you're welding it on they'll flare the ends out a bit to fit over the pipe.
