Exhaust problem

Having a problem with m exhaust. Everywhere I search says it is supposed to be 2.5", so I went and bought 2.5" couplers,which are super loose on the exhaust pipe. I had some extra 2.5" exhaust pipe, and it slides right over the stock pipe on the 4runner. I have an 06 sr5. Is my exhaust 2.25"?

Not to sound like a smartass, but you could probably lay underneath and hold a ruler up to it. The naked eye can easily see a quarter of an inch difference

Tried that, there are a couple dents in the end and I can't really see the tape measure

Measure your extra exhaust and the new one. I bet the extra stuff you had laying around is smaller. Take a tape measure into the store and try and find something closer to right size you need.

On mine it was 2.5 after the y-pipe & 1 gasket that has big springs , before 2.25 , so ......
