Expedition Portal- North Rim Grand Canyon trip

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share a recent article Expo published on the route we took through the North Rim. I posted a few of the pics on my build thread, but wanted to share the actual article with you guys.

Some route considerations for others wanting to do the same trip:
- Trails themselves can be easy/moderate depending on which ones you take and the condition. However, things can go south pretty quickly: we got hit with a pretty crazy storm which made the trails super slick (wet clay is fun!), and had to chainsaw/winch our way out at a couple points with downed trees.
- There's pretty limited gas on the North Rim, especially when you are within the trail systems near the rim. Our longest stop between gas stations was about 370 miles.
- Winter sucks. It's cold. And there are year-round fire restrictions on any GCNP territory. We used a propane fire pit whenever camped on GCNP lands, but we were able to build campfires on National Forest/BLM lands.
- Permits: you need a backcountry permit to camp on any of the national park lands. The upside to this is that despite going during Thanksgiving week, we never saw another group or camper at any point during our trip.

Get out there and explore.
