Extended Jack?

Have any of you with 3 inch lifts and 285s had the opportunity to test your stock jack? Does it work? I know that I could always put a block of wood under the jack but that may not always be an optimal choice. I also have a hi-lift for off road but honestly I don't lug it around on a daily basis.

Thanks for any thoughts/experiences.

I recently had to change a tire on my stock limited. I can tell you, that with my truck, the jack was fully extended and I had just enough room to get my tire off and a new one on. I don't think the stock jack would work with a lift on it without a block or something to give it some height.

That is a excellent question and a huge oversight on my part when I did my lift and tires :dammit:. Now Ive got some thinkin to do... looking forward to some responses.

Where are the recommended jacking points on the 5th gens?
In the 3rd gen, the points are the nubs under the front lower ball joints and under the rear axle. A lift does nothing to these points. Larger tires do but just a minimal amount.

I also carry a Hi-Lift Offroad Base. I do want to make a filler.

Rear was never an issue for the stock jack, I never had to jack up the front though so I cannot comment on that.

Same on 5th Gen - under the LCAs and the rear axle, which a lift has no effect, and realistic tires are well within an inch from stock.

I use my hilift on my sliders to change a tire, which is rare unless I tear open the sidewall, as I carry a plug kit. Considering ditching the jack to make room for a small tool bag.

Not under the LCAs, On the frame rails, just in front of the cross member
Eh, either way, the stock jack isn't good for much other than a wheel chock.

What is probably the same jack, on my Taco, broke the first time I tried to use it.
