extended range fuel tank

been searching google and the forum for any extended range tanks. between the lift, tires, bumper, limited full time 4wd im getting 12mpg in the city and 15 on hwy. do quite a bit of driving on the highway, would be nice to get more than 300mi to a tank topped off. emailed these guys last night Rick's Stainless Tanks : Welcome to Rickshotrods . seems some 3rd and 4th gen has done it, any of the 5th gen's done it?

I'm loving the setup. Let me know if you plan on doing it and I can throw some pointers your way to keep the super sensitive EVAP system from lighting up the Christmas tree.

Ya I saw the fuel cell thread. More interested in a replacement tank in the neighborhood of 30+ gallons. Saw a write up in the 4th section about welding one the hung down a bit more for extra fuel capacity like the FJ cruiser replacement tanks.

Just called titan. They said they can't do something like that. They do large production they did say they've had quite a few toyota request tho.

Is there not a FJ or Prado aux tank available?

The FJ is a little different bc the spare tire is mounted on the rear hatch. there is one available in steel that's 31 gallons. I haven't found anything for the Prado that's available in the United States

Search the internet.. take a vacation to Mexico or Belize (English speaking country, so easy communication)... pick one up. :clap2:

Or see if there are any South America users hanging out on here who can give you some pointers. Relocating the spare tire to the rear is easy with a CBI or a Shrockworks rear bumper. but I guess at that point you obviously have been bitten by the modification bug.

We've used this company in the past as well, It appears they sold their fuel tank dept. though. follow the link to the new owners and drop them a line and see if they will help.

Possible custom tank?

Ditto for http://nwmp.com. I had one of their tanks in my 1st Gen it was awesome! Sadly they pretty much stopped making Toyota tanks after about the 2nd gen. I could never find one for my 3rd GEN (Still looking BTW, JIC)


I haven't tried these guys because they are so far away from me....but the website looks pretty good.
