extended sway bar end links

Ugh, this is so confusing. I feel like I've searched a bunch of thread and asked the question a couple of times and I get a different answer every time.

So 2nd gen rears for front and rear of a 3rd gen?

What about the ES Sway Bar mounts? the ES site lists 27mm and 26mm as options for the front Sway Bar. Which is it?

I know the 2nd gen rear links work for our rear ends. They are 1" longer. I just installed a set. I remember researching was a PITA but I found this to be true and worked for me.

Thanks. Ended up doing this cause Amazon.ca didn't offer free shipping on 2nd gen ones. So got 2 sets of 3rd gen fronts.

Got the greasable ES sway bar mounts and bushings too. 130$ CAD total.
 
Front sway bar links. PITA

So after trying several different types of options for front sway bars. I have decided to run without them. Atleast Until I get the funds the just make my own.

I currently have a 2.5-3 inch lift up front.
So far Ive broken the stock ones. Which I replaced with Napa links.
Broke those In Uwharrie.
Bought tundra sway bar links. And bent those. They were always making noise offroad anyways. As did every other set.

So now with them off I dont have to hear them when going Offroad.

The last option I have may be to run 2nd gen rears up front if they are longer. I already have them in the rear and they have given me no issues

Be warned that not running front links for an extended time will cause other parts to wear. I make links that I doubt you're going to break, just an FYI.

I am always surprised when I read things like this. I have tried disconnecting my front and rear sway bars, not at the same time. And my runner is not a happy camper. The VSC is constantly beeping and breaking. I took it on the highway for one exit with them off and swore I would never do that again. I see you also have a 2001 and I would think you would experience the same thing?
 
I have ran with out both sways. I have ran with just missing front. Both times very extended periods. I have found missing the front has lots of negative affects.

Mstudt makes a good product, I would think about going his route when you have the funds.

I may be inquiring about getting some of yours in the near future. You offer the quick disconnect option for the front correct?

What will wear out? I'm planning on no front bar, and tossing my front end links into the rear after reading this thread.

I can see increased bushing wear, but that's about it, no?

tires for one thing. i took the front sway bar off cause i had open diffs and needed every bit of travel i can get. i just ordered my spartan locker today and will be putting the sway bar back on.

onto the tires, my tires are cupping. the whole truck leans when i make turns so as it leans to the left the front tires lean with the truck / / causing it to wear prematurely on the edges. since the rear is solid axle it stays flat with the ground.
 
FJ links?

Anyone know or can point me to whether FJ rear sway bar links will work on the 3rd gen 4runner. I haven't seen much about it working or not. They appear to be about 7 1/4" overall length.
 
So I have the OME 891 rear springs which got me roughly 3.5" empty lift. With 2nd gen stock rear sway bar links I had several incidents where the lower arms contacted the sway bar end links. The solution for me was to move the 2nd gen end links to the front and move the stock 3rd Gen front links to the rear. I did this with some polyurethane bushings and the result has been much better. I'm also using air bags on the rear because of high loads. I think the OME 891 springs on the rear are good for stock weight, but unlike their advertisement, they are not good at 300+ pounds in the back, over 1.5" of sag with 350 lbs. Airlift 1000 bags and one donut removed from the jounce bumper were perfect. The endlink swap has been on the truck for about a month and a half and works great.
 
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but does anyone know if 2nd gen front links will work on the front of a 3rd gen?

You can put 3rd Gen rear links on the front if you want them longer, and 2nd Gen links on the rear. They'll be longer, but not stronger.

I have [MENTION=98153]MStudt[/MENTION] end links on my rig and they are quality! Highly recommend them
