I got the full factory extended warranty when I bought my 2015 trail edition. Just did it because I do not trust sunroofs.
Gamestar - you have (another) PM

Hope you got a good deal....
Found this thread while researching about 4runners, getting ready to pull the trigger on a '16 trail premium model this week. Would very much like to get the EW info from gamester. Hope to contribute in the future, Thank You
Sent you and badda a PM!!!
Hey folks,
Thank you for letting me join this forum and I'm excited to actually own a 4Runner  which brings me to my question.
2015 Trail Premium
55.5k miles
The dealership sold me on a extended warranty for 50k/48 months(so good for 105k total bumper to bumper) for :frusty: $3800! I already have a 100k power train warranty for free but my main reason for getting the extended was for the entune, heated seats, sunroof, etc etc. Ya know...all those bells and whistles that can break and cost $1000+ each to fix. My previous two vehicles were BMWs and I loved the extended warranty and easily got the value out of them. Guess I'm not sure if I'm making the right gamble here. Literally woke up in the middle of the night after leaving the dealership last night at 6:30 thinking about this.
I've already put in for some quotes to see if I can get another 3rd party warranty for way cheaper. Then again, I may drop the extended warranty all together.
Thoughts? :help:
What if your vehicle never fails in your warranty period, then you are out $3800.00. If you saved that money and chose not to use a dealership for a replacement of a failed part, your $3800.00 could go a lot further at a reputable private shop to perform a repair. If you don't like to get your hands dirty and want the security and peace of mind of the extended warranty, just in case, then that's what it's there for. Not trying to sway you, just giving my angle. Good luck and congrats on your new 4Runner!

Gamester, if you could PM me info on the extended warranty I would much appreciate it!
I had a 4th gen for 5 years and regretted trading it in ever since. Looking to get into a 5th gen LE soon and would be nice to get a solid deal on an extended warranty at the same time.
I bought the 100K 7 year comprehensive. First time I've ever bought an extended warranty.
My perspective:
1. I'm a retired mechanical engineer. A pretty competent one to boot.
2. I'm a pretty good shade tree auto mechanic.
3. The 4Runner is probably going to be the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned.
So why you say:
1. I'm now 74 years old - not as capable crawling under a vehicle anymore.
2. This rig is full of more electronic gadgetry than anything I've ever owned.
3. I've no good reference material (Shop computer and software).
4. I wheel the hell out of it regularly.
5. I'll probably keep it forever.
6. The truck should hit 100K and 7 years about the same time as I turn 82.
They keep telling me that these things are good to 200K - I hope so....:bravo:
