External Amp Power Wire thru Firewall ?

Those of you that have put external amps in . Where did you find the best place to run the power wire thru the firewall ? I figure on using at LEAST 8 ga. wire here . This is taking place on my 98 Ltd.

Which side of the truck did you run the amp power wire down ?

As a side note , any of you install Polk Audio or Infinity components in the front ?

Just wondering how the tweeters fit in a 98

run 4 gauge wires at the driver side, theres a gromet and u poke it thru.

you can drill a hole where the clutchplate is (assuming you have an auto) and use the appropriate grommet to put the wire through it.

As far as your tweeters, if you have factory tweeters you can adhere the aftermarket ones right up behind the grille of the factory tweeter cover. If you do not, you will need to use the supplied tweeter mounting cups and mount those somewhere, and install the tweets in them.

I did the same thing riceandpho probably did with the grommet on the driver's side. Very easy to get to and I had no problem punching a 4 gauge through there.

Yep , I have the factory tweeters in there . I have been scratching my head over getting a Scion HU and today I decided to grab the KW-XG700 from JVC . Install was EASY !! It sounds great , has 2 pair of pre-outs PLUS a set for sub out . It really looks very good in there . Sounds great ! Plus it actually has a knob to turn , for the volume control , being "old school" , I like that

ooohhhh shiny! I miss my JVC double din. I have a Clarion now but was never too impressed with it. I put Boston 6.5 components in mine and the tweeters took a little while for me to figure out a good fit. I ended up using the factory brackets and modifying the included mounting cups from Boston to get a good fit going.

I've had a few JVC decks in various 4x4's over the years and even off road they never seem to miss a beat .

Is it the depth of the after market tweeters or a diamater issue ? I suspect I will have to fool around and do the same with what ever I get .

How did you like the sound Q from the Boston Acoustics ??

I have a 1" Dia tweeter and it fit great. As far as depth..i am not sure, i can take a look at the box and see how thick my tweeters are.

I like the sound quality of the Boston's but I wasn't blown away by them. I've had Infinity's in another vehicle before so it wasn't a substantial upgrade for me, more like a lateral transition. I would put them at the same level as higher end Infinitys and polks. As far as the tweets, diameter was no issue, it was depth. But not the tweeter itself, just the mounting cups. Factory tweet to my Boston tweet were near identical by all dimensions. The factory bracket screws directly into the back of the tweet which of course you can't do that with the aftermarket tweet.

Ya its nice and goes very well with the rest of the dash . For what I'm planning I really needed 3 sets of pre-outs so it worked out great . I got it for $ 249.00 and they thru in the wiring adapter and good quality rca leads for later .

I could of bought the 500 model on fleabay for $ 152 ( and then 42 bucks shipping ) but I wanted the extra pre-outs and the usb drive plugin on the front for something else I have .

Today is AMP wiring day LOL .

Thats the same place I used , worked great ! What a difference the sub makes ! I have to say , I have installed my share of amps in the past and the T4R was the easiest yet , for running wires . The kick panels , the center panel ( in front of the seat belts ) all snapped off easily and went back on nicely . Lot of the time those things are a PIA on some vehicles .
