Any updates?
I believe you are both on different subjects. You don't be able to tell if you have progressive or digressive shocks until you run them. The difference is when the piston moves fast. Either they will get stiffer (progressive) or they will soften (digressive) as the piston moves faster.

Honestly we probably couldn't tell the difference even if we rode in two different set ups. Unless we were doing baja or something.
I believe A.Wilson013 wrode in both set ups and he currently owns ICON. He said he could not tell the difference. Both were smooth when going fast!
I like the rubber bushing/bump stop on the shaft.
It's true that I have been unable to tell (feel) the difference between two VERY similar 3rd gen 4Runners, one with Kings, one with Icons. Around town the ride is pretty rough, and on the same stretches of washboarded out, rough dirt roads, they feel the same to me- getting smoother the faster you go, and the faster the piston gets pumping.
Even riding in a long travel 2nd gen Tacoma with King coilovers and shocks I truly felt no difference on the same crappy road. Around town it felt a bit nicer (see also: softer) but once we were bombing down the road over the washboards it felt arguably the same to me. So similar, in fact, that any plans for long travel (for me) went out the door.
I'm of the opinion that unless you're hitting whoops, bumps, and jumps like an Ultra 4 racer, it won't matter.

if you valve them to softer setting will it be better in town, the icons

Looking real good, that reservoir is a beast! I'm thinking doing a similar setup pretty soon. Was the picture taken at full droop without limit straps?

Lots of flex!!
About 1 1/4" shock left before extended bumps.
Droop maxed out!
You're losing out on a bunch of bump travel by using 8" stroke shocks.
