Here's a switch box I make out of some Acrylic Plastic, wired, and will be installing. Just have too much shit do do first. It's 7 switches, relays, fuses, ect for all the lights I plan on running.

Ok, so in doing a little research tonight, realized there are both the little thin blade fuses and the circular glass type. Is one any better than another? Should the be used for different applications etc?

After reading that write up, he did it absolutely right.

My suggestion to you, is to do this:

Get about 15 feet of 14-16ga power wire.

Get about 5 feet of 12ga ground wire.

Get a small fuse box from any parts store, you can get them in single, or multiple fuses.

You'll want some shrink wrap/electrical tape, and some connectors.

You're also going to want to get a in-line fuse, to put between the battery and the other fuse box. Say a 30 amp, depending on the fuse box rating.

From there, run the power wire through the firewall towards the battery.

Wire the positive wire to the fuse box. Then, you can connect each outlet to that fuse box.

Like I said before, those devices don't pull more than 5amps(USUALLY), so get a 5-10amp fuse for each outlet.

Join the ground wires together, then put them on the 12ga ground wire, finding a good place to secure the ground wire. There's multiple places to do this under the dash, or close to the point of where you're mounting the outlets.

You're done. Easy peasy.

The other fuse you mention, between the battery and the built in fuse. Should that go closest to the battery or closest to the outlets?

Yeah the 96 to 98 4runners needed more power ports for sure. Toyota even knew it and added more to the front and the rear. I will be adding at least 2 more power ports in the rear via the fuse box on their own circuit and maybe 1 more up front. I plan to have my streamlite charger mounted in the rear and an extra power port for a small compressor and any other needs. I saw that right up a few weeks ago when i was researching the addition.

Closest to the battery.

If you've got fuses on the outlets, you don't need that extra fuse box.

14ga wire, 30amp fuse close to the battery, and run them in a series.

Group the grounds together, and run them to a good ground point.

Well, got it all in this weekend, everything wired up pretty good. I'm pleased with the way everything looks. I can take pictures in the day light if anyone cares to see what it looks like...

Here's the drivers side. Ended up putting a switch in. The one on the drivers side is for my gps so the cord isn't all over the place, it fits perfectly without being in the way of my leg.
