Factory Alarm help

I've read on several forums, the older manual for a 2000 Runner that I found says it too, but both don't go off on how to actually do it.

On my factory alarm on my 01' 4Runner SR5, as well as any others with this, I heard you can change the volume of the "beep" and the "beep-beep" respectfully when locking and unlocking the doors. Is this true? If so, can anyone post on how to do this?

I kinda wanna silent it out. Just have my lights flash, you know what I mean.

Thanks!

Nope, not the RS3000. Not quite sure which one it is. It is the factory one installed on my 01' SR5.

thee beep on my '98 factory alarm only works about 5% of the time, usually its just the light flashing. Unlike you, however, I want the beep! i need it to know that I locked it so I will stop leaving it unlocked!

i know EXACTLY what you mean. My chirper works about half the time, also sometimes it beeps on one of the two flases. I think the chirper just needs to be replaced.

Well, the buttons are different. I really don't want to mess anything up with it or "decode" anything. You know what I mean? I will just keep searching. Thanks!

if it is a true toyota vip alarm it will not "decode" anything. you have to press a button on the alarm unit to "decode" it. As for programing it, use that first link i posted and just ignore your rear window button. If that doesn't work, go see a service tech at the dealer.
