Factory Car Alarm Help!!

1) one with a red push button on dash (i do not have this type)
2) one with a spring loaded button on the driverside kick panel ( this is the one I have) I have a hard plastic red light on my dash that will not push in so if you have this type look on your kick panel for the reset.

I don't see either button. I have a -97 3.4 manual transmission (don't ask me why a manual tranny needs a car alarm). Anyone have a pic of what I should be looking for?

Your 97 should be under the drivers seat. It’s different than the 99+ alarms.

Thanks, this was super helpful. Any idea where I can find programming info for aftermarket remotes? As in the original remote is 2 button & mine is 4 button, so how do I know which buttons program what?

That blury pic looks to be the seat belt warning plug.

This is the OEM remote security system for my 97 Located under the drivers seat. The green button it the button used to select different modes. Teach included.

It the factory remote isn’t under your drivers seat you have an aftermarket.

Huge "Thank You" for this information 14 years later. I had to drive my fiancee's car to work today because my '00 wouldn't start this morning out of nowhere, despite both my battery and starter rebuild being less than 6 months old. Everything else electrical was working fine, battery had plenty of voltage, and jumping the starter relay contacts did absolutely nothing. I still don't know what caused the issue in the first place, but as soon as I followed these instructions the truck now starts without issue.
