Factory Power Inverter

Has anyone done a mod where these could be turned on when the truck is off / in the ACC position? It's really annoying to have to leave it in the "On" position when all I want to do is charge my computer or something.

I'm guessing it wouldn't be a hard mod - just hook up a hot while in ACC wire to the switched wire in the back of that switch - just curious if anyone had done it?

Inverter

Running somethng at 120 volts that takes 100 watts will draw 0.83 amps.

When running a 12 volt inverter the same 100 watts will require 8.3 amps from the battery/source. It may not take too long at this rate to discharge the battery enough where it may not spin the starter. It's less than leaving the headlights on, but not much. My guess is that Toyota is trying to keep us from getting stuck.

A 400 watt load will draw 33 amps. That may be why we can't run 400W when in gear, only neutral or park.

I usually carry a small jumper battery pack in case I need it or to help someone. That can be used to power other 12 volt devices independant of the T4 battery. Works well for my Traxxas E-Maxx charger.
