Factory Stereo/Nav Value?

Harp - a quick glance at your pics makes me think that there is probably some swapability... but with limited functionality. I don't think you could pop a JBL Nav unit into an SR5 and have nav, but I bet you could put it in and get bluetooth and sat radio with some creative wiring to the speakers (There seem to be 3 connectors that carry over between all 3 units - USB, Sat radio, and power from the main bus?) I guess what really matters is seeing the back of what unit you have, the back of the Entune unit, and understanding which connectors go to what. I'm guessing that an Entune unit into a 2010-11 SR5 upgrade audio 4Runner will probably be plug and play other than navigation and Entune. Basically, you'd get what Toyota calls Display Audio (non-nav).

I would be interested in Display Audio, but as mentioned above, I'd only be willing to pay in the $100 to $200 range.

You would have to see what the back of the entune looks like .

If the nav GPS antenna on the entune is like mine was on my JBL Nav, it is flat little antenna about 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" and contained in a little plastic tray up in the middle of the dash near the top and could be taken out with the short harness that came down to plug into the entune HU .So there is hope that it could be removed and included with the sale. I took my JBL nav GPS antenna out of that tray and put the one from my Pioneer in it's place as it was about the same size but the connector was different.

Has anybody even replaced their Entune HU yet to see if their is a Metra or Scosche harness adapter to mate up the entune harness with aftermarket ones? I've just been searching and found one guy with a Prius that swapped his out for a Kenwood and he has some great info and pics of the back of his Entune HU in post #9. Also, another thing that might be worth mentioning is, the value of an entune unit might drop drastically to the purchaser should they actually want to use entune features. I say this because I think the headunit ID is linked to the VIN, so I am not quite sure how you're going to sign up for and activate an entune account with just the headunit alone? If I recall correctly, I had to punch in my VIN to sign up for entune. See here: https://www.myentune.com/login.jsp

Obviously due to the nature of the product there is a very finite market for the thing which is why i opened the thread to begin with. There is little to no info out there for people who might be buying or selling one. Really it's down to Gen 5 4runner owners who didn't want to spend on the upgrade at the dealer or want to replace their broken unit, and most are probably still covered under warranty. That's about it.

Usually there's only two reasons why this is the case. Either it's a really rare item, or no one wants it. I guess you just have to draw you're own conclusions since you don't want to hear what everyone else has to say :yo:

That is a good find and big help eddie and good points too about the sign up and as you can see the back is the same as the Prius one in post 9 of that thread ,only upside down as compared to that one. That Prius thread should also help people wanting to go aftermarket to replace the Entune.

I think I was the first to replace my JBL nav on here and had no idea what it was worth .I had several pm offers from people of over $1000 as they thought it would just plug right up and play. That's when Paul ,who had TE without Nav and wanted the factory nav in the worst way,and I researched the wiring diagrams and traded pics of the back and we found it wasn't going to happen and I wasn't going to play stupid and rip somebody off on here.

The good thing about the JBL Nav ,which was a 6th Gen JBL, however as I found out is it's swappable with older generations of JBL navs like in the 4th Gens and other Toyotas that had the 4th and 5th gen JBL navs.Just the plastic surround which could be swapped was different.

I put it up on ebay truthfully claiming what it came in and that I didn't know what other Toyota's it would fit in, for $1000 or best offer.Accepted $800 a couple of days later from a guy was swapping it for his older JBL in his older Sequoia.So it was worth $800 and I paid a little over $900 for my Pioneer .So putting a Entune up on ebay is the way I would probably go and see if it has any interest and what it's ACTUALLY worth

I am pretty sure I could make this thing work in my 2011 if I could get a hold of one.
