Fair Price?

I need some reassurance. I finally found exactly what I have been looking for and I would like to know if everyone thinks the price is reasonable. I am about to buy a 2004 Black Sport V8 with 64K miles and dealer service records since new. The owner and I have settled at $14,500 and I'll have about $500 in travel expenses to go get it. I think the price may be slightly on the high side of private party value but it is exactly what I have been looking for.
Opinions appreciated.

I actually think that's a fantastic price for that mileage, especially with the detailed history. Is it 4wd?

Pretty decent price for such low miles. My 07 is almost to 90k.

I think that's more than a fair price. Paid $13,800 for my 2004 Sports Edition 4x4 with 115K miles. You're getting a steal with that low of miles. Good find. What state are you buying it from? Hopefully it's not a rust bucket states.

With that low of mileage and a good service history I'd say go for it - especially if it's exactly what you're looking for.

Guys, thanks for the comments. It is 4x4 and it is from a rust belt state. That was definately a concern but the guy sent me several pictures of the undercarriage and although it does have some rust it does not appear anywhere near out of the ordinary. Judging from the pic would you guys agree?

Undercarriage looks like mine, in another words, looks fine. I've seen some where they are completely covered in rust. Great shape, great price, go get her!!!

Payed $11,800 after taxes for my 2003 V8 Sport Edition with 100,000mi. on the 'clock

So far it has been a good buy!

If the rust is only as bad as that pic shows I'd probably still be ok with it. I got mine from a rust state (Missouri) and brought it home to Texas - it looks about like that. I'm planning on hitting the rust areas with some POR-15 pretty soon to take care of it.

The only thing you may run into is some rusted bolts on the undercarriage every once and a while. Like when you try to take the front skid plate off to change the motor oil/transfer case oil you might want to replace those bolts. You should also drop the spare tire and make sure that mechanism is functional and not rusting out.

Back in July, I got my '03 4x4 V8 for $13,000 with 77,900 miles. Bought it from a dealer. Maybe you can try to get him down to $14,000?

Rust looks just about average for the age of the vehicle and the fact that it's from a rust belt state. I live in Massachusetts and my undercarraige looks about the same maybe slightly better. I have an 05 with 67,000 plus miles.

Congratulations! It's not gonna suck behind the wheel of your new 4th gen. Especially being pulled along by that V8. You're gonna love it!

It won't suck at all. Getting exactly what you want in a vehicle is a good feeling. 11 hours of driving is just some "getting acquainted" time.
