Truth be told, I think I have everything to put this together in my garage already and I bought it anyway too. I really wanted that outlet, and I'm glad I did. I guess I could have bought the outlet alone, but I didn't. Well I did, after I broke the first one.

And I'm not doing much with the current one. I actually modified the stock outlet to accept my plug and fatter wires straight from the battery. Finished that today actually. Started it, then played some drunk kickball, then finished it. It was a good learning and intermission.

Pushing through the firewall sucked to say the least. I should have pulled the little rubber grommet way earlier...
I fought with it for too long and got frustrated...

Oh well done now. Voltmeter and terminal block and all. Done and complete. Thanks for the info!

I am curious what you mean by you "should have pulled the little rubber grommet way earlier"? Do you mean the main firewall grommet on the driver side? Or some other grommet? Did you put it back in?

I am always open for a beer and car talk, no charge.

Yes, the firewall grommet (I went through the passenger side though)! I was trying to push through it without removing it for fear it would be hard to get back into place. So I spent a few mins grunting and annoyed at trying to shove through it at the unsightly angles. Then I pulled the grommet out into the engine bay, pushed the wire through, then pulled the wire through while providing resistance on the grommet from the inside. Short work after that.

And yes I put it back haha thanks for askin though haha. Some people who have never pulled wires through the firewall may not be so savvy. Lol

Beer and car talk welcomed as well. Sadly I have too much car stuff in the house that needs attention to spend too much time drinking or talking when around my car. I got a winch and a fuel tank skid waiting on me.

Got it. I was definitely not questioning your wiring prowess. I have had a beast of a time getting through the grommet but never just pulled it for fear of it being an even bigger beast getting back in. But I know that the hole where the grommet sits has a folded / rounded edge, so there is no sharp sheet metal edge, hence why I wondered if you had just ripped it out. Glad you got it back in.

I do not think I have a crimper for 2 or 0 gauge wire. Let me know if you can't find one though because I am positive I can hunt one down.

Haven't posted in a while, but how many photos of the same truck on the same beach can you take? I do some other stuff too. In October 2016 some buddies and I went down to Port A and did some fishing. Slept the first night very comfortably in the 4Runner.

So I went on this trip with a few buddies that I've been friends with since junior high. In the sixth grade our moms signed us out of school so three of us could go down to Corpus to go fishing. There is exactly 25 years between these photos:

Went shooting the other day with a buddy. He recently won a compensated G17 in a raffle. I wouldn't use it for night time defense, but he caught a good photo of me blowing off some steam. This has nothing to do with the 4Runner, I know, but it's neat.

The process was relatively painless. I did the driver side on my own and a couple buddies swung by just in time to help me with the passenger side. The only real hiccup was getting the tank strap bolt back in. It had me pretty frustrated. I also left off the bolt-on gusset and had to remove a rear bolt and redo it with the gusset in place. Oh, and of course I had to come in and consult this forum to learn that there are plastic retainer plugs in the frame which hide access holes big enough for the stick nuts. Now that I think about it maybe it went less smoothly than I had thought.

I also have yet to drill the crossmember on either side. Both sides have an angled tab and require drilling a 3/8" hole in the crossmember to attach (older models apparently have these holes already, mine does not). But there is a considerable gap between the tab on the sliders and the crossmember. more than 1/4" for sure. It was hard to get a good pic of it. Bur it's the same on both sides. I am really thinking there should be a spacer in there or something. My buddy that stopped by actually said his came with a spacer for that very spot (jeep). I am going to contact SW this week to ask them.
