Fan control switch

Did a few searches, but found little useful information... My air conditioning/heater fan switch only works on the 2 highest settings. This basically boils down to the fan running at full blast or not at all. Is this a common issue? Is there somewhere I should start without tearing the whole dash apart? Thanks much!

There are resistors for each speed. Just look in the fsm on how to change them

Located the blower motor resistor pack, which essentially looks like 3 wire coils. 2 are completely shot so I think I've located the problem. Anybody know a part number for this resistor? Not much info in FSM

Not hard at all. Relay is physically located in the air duct under the dash on the passenger side. Just unplug the connector and the resistor is held in with a single screw. Can take pics if needed.

Not needed thanks. I know where it is thank you!

I need to do this on my '86. I started loosing various speeds until only the highest setting would work. ....which is better than nothing I suppose.

Yeah, with the relay pulled the only fan setting is basically full blast.
