Fan wobble

Hello all. Long time member, haven't really visited lately but still driving my 4Runner. ANYWAYS my fan wobbles. It doesn't appear to be cracked or chipped. 4.7L. Video included, please let me know why you think this is happening. I won't drive it out of fear of something grenading up there. Thanks all. Current pic of my truck for extra attention.

Hard to tell. What happens when the engine is not running and you try to move the fan back and forth? Does it move then or only when the engine is running? My first thoughts are the fan nuts are loose or the pulley bearing is shot.

Check the tightness of the fan clutch to the pulley. Then check the play in the fan clutch assembly and pulley (see if it wobbles up and down), the issue may be either the fan clutch or the pulley bearing being faulty.

The good news is that's a 2UZ-FE so the fan is just attached to a bearing and that's it (unlike some vehicles where I've seen the water pump so badly worn it's causing the pulley to wobble)

So, it turns out my water pump has died, and that's what's causing the slight amount of wobble. I was hoping it was just the fan clutch, but all in all this is not going to be a very difficult fix.

Is this on the V8 4Runner? Because the pulley for the water pump is under the timing cover and NOT connected to the fan clutch.

On the 4.7L (2UZ-FE) V8 the fan clutch attaches to a pulley that is on a bracket (the pulley with the 4 studs on it in the picture). That's driven by the serpentine belt and nothing else, it's just a bearing and a pulley on an aluminum bracket.

The water pump pulley is the smooth cone-ended pulley to the 10 o'clock position of the fan clutch pulley in the picture being driven by the timing belt.

I agree with BlackWorksInc. Fan wobble cannot be caused by a bad water pump pulley.

I replaced the hub assembly, timing belt, serpentine belt, belt tensioner and water pump. No more wobble.

What hub assembly? Do you mean the fan clutch assembly itself?

Also if you changed the timing belt, you see what I mean about it not being connected to the pump right?

Were you able to narrow down what exactly was causing the wobble? I noticed a slight shake/vibration recently after turning the engine on and decided to check the fan - it looks like it wobbles when it's on, but no loose movement when it's off.
