Farewell 5th Gen Members

I joined in 2010 before buying my 2010 Trail. Learned so much here. Lifted my own truck, did all my own mods, learned to service the fluids, etc.

Life changed and I bought my own stone company. Working a ton lately and the company is thriving. I had to have a HD pickup for daily driving, and today I traded for one. In addition to the payload and towing needs, I work with lots of high end clients, and my bad ass 4Runner stopped being the best option.

I'll miss it for sure, never ever let me down a single time. I hope most of you get them offroad, because that is where this truck is leaps and bounds better than most everything else. We made some amazing Family memories with ours.

I will likely return to Toyota in the near future, as I intend to buy an old Cruiser or 2 door Runner to rebuild as a project with my young son. The new Denali will never complete the trails I did on my 4Runner, but the future project will.

Thanks buddy. I'm glad you got everything you did and hope you are enjoying it all. Hockey, well, let's touch base again when the playoffs roll around. I would love to see a rematch in the final!

Thanks SC! I remember many of your posts back when I was active as a new member. Glad you are still enjoying yours. The final tally on mine was just over 56k. Got it with 4 miles... awesome truck.

Definitely going to be towing. Christmas might be easy now, because my wife really wants a travel trailer, and now I can adequately pull one.

Thanks! You should see the inside As much as I have praised my 4Runner, the interior - specifically the tech and integration - was severely lacking in my 2010. I never minded the utilitarian layout, and in fact the Denali thankfully uses knobs too. But I will not miss is the horrible iPod interface. The new GMC is really amazing, and in fact mine is a newer build w/ the 4G LTE WiFi built in. Have not tried it yet; free for 6 months and I'll see if it offers any advantages over my mobile.

Man that thing is pretty. I always like the look of the GMCs but Chevy reliability just turns me off, and to my knowledge it hasn't gotten significantly better (if someone has articles saying otherwise I am definitely open to enlightenment). Though if I could afford the new Stingray, well that would be a different story.

In the crew cab the bed is too short, and in all models the payload is not sufficient. I own an architectural stone business and an average crate is probably 1500 pounds. A fireplace is usually in 2 crates so on small orders I can just put them in the box to deliver.

Also, the tow rating. Sure, 10,000 pounds sounds like a lot, but the reality is to properly pull 8-10,000 pounds an HD is a much better platform.

I always like the look of the GMCs but Chevy reliability just turns me off, and to my knowledge it hasn't gotten significantly better (if someone has articles saying otherwise I am definitely open to enlightenment). Though if I could afford the new Stingray, well that would be a different story.

Definitely a roll of the dice compared to a Toyota. I owned a ZR2 blazer and a Z71 Tahoe in the past. Neither had any mechanical issues. The Tahoe actually had no issues; the Blazer had some interior issues that were fixed under warranty.

Appreciate the kind words. It is about 4' longer than the 4Runner. Fits in the garage with a total of 8" extra for front and back! I'll fix that problem when I build a house one day.

You will enjoy the Runner then. I never had a single issue on mine.

If I run into those kinds of problems I'll get rid of it too. I don't plan to keep it past the warranty anyways. But I have to have a HD for my requirements.

BTW, I recognize your photo from the DM forum. You loved your truck for a while. Then you posted it for sale, and then retracted it. Too bad it went south on you. Did you ever get your 2012 Toyota Camry fixed? Guess it just shows every brand has problem vehicles.

Yeah camry fixed. The truck was a nightmare, warranty sounds good until you're without a rig. You can't tow with a rental or anything.

Glad the Camry was taken care of. I was surprised to read your reply here on the Toyota forum about the truck being so bad. You raved about it on the Duramax forum and then never posted about any problems you had. I'm sure other members there would be interested to hear of your troubles.

No doubt Toyota reliability and consistency are as good as it gets. With the GM you know going in that consistency is not the same. Mine has only 900 miles and has been perfect. Most enjoyable vehicle I have driven.
