Wow, maybe I'm just dumb but I would actually like less electronic doodads on the 4Runner. I don't NEED an MPH/MPG calculator. The Range indicator is "nice" but it is too optimistic and I can just rely on the red fuel light to let me know I should find a gas station.

Those tilting/folding side mirrors sound nice and I've seen it in action on the Toureg, but it is just another thing to break...

If I could have got a 5 speed manual I would have, give me that and I'll be happy. I'm still waiting for my 5 speed automatic to come in the mail, has any 03-04 V6 owner got thiers yet?

Well this is a 'wish list' thread.

I have a Limited and I like having 'doodads' as you call them. HID's would a great feature to have. Look how many people have already modded thier 4Runners and added HIDs themselves.

I would love to just have it as an option, so I wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of trying to add it afterwards

How about if Toyota did this.

The SR5 model, make it basic. No options at all, to keep the price down.

Then on the Limited models, give us the options that we are willing to pay for.

No difference in how the 4Runner is made between the 2. Both are still able to go off-road if needed. Just one has the 'doodads' and the other doesn't.

Maybe we should rename this to 'Features you would like to see on a Limited'

Just get the Lexus version of the 4runner.

Even if they put all that stuff on a limited it would cost to much , and would tap to much into the Lexus market.

I would love to see improvements on the 4r but not gadget improvements. Keep it simple but nice.

I have this gut feeling that this 4th gen 4R will be the last of the off road capable Runners , look at the trend it already has been following between the 3rd ( my favorite ) and 4th gen.

My wish list is quite different....
1. height , width , stance of the Tacoma.
2. 33" tire option
3. electronic (on/off switch) front & rear lockers.
4. selection for better tune systems
5. Being able to turn off VSC, ect...with a switch.
6. I'll keep thinking , its late ...lol

If you want real time MPG just reset the MPG setting every time you fill-up. Just remember the reading is a little optimistic. If you want the real time average MPH for that MPG reading reset them both at each fill up.

The reason you end up with at 28 MPH is because of your diving style and repetitive driving routes. 28 average MPH is a combination of city and highway driving. If you traveled 60 highway miles @ 70mph on your way to work every day, your average mph would be somewhat higher.

Optional, Telescoping, Towing mirrors would be nice. It gets to be a real PITA having to mount/unmount my Hensley Mirrors every time I tow. Toyota could even sell these mirrors as a dealer installed or DIY accessory. I am sure there are more than a few 4Runner, Tundra and Sequoia owners that would be interested in buying these mirrors.

Just get the Lexus version of the 4runner.

Sticker on the Lexus GX starts at $50K, because they're shipping them all with the 3rd row seat option. A similarly-equipped V8 Limited has a sticker in the neighborhood of $43K.
The few doodads I'd like to see don't justify a $7K premium - I'll live without them instead. But this is a wish list thread, after all.
The only two standard features that the GX has right now that my 4Runner doesn't have are the tilt-down side mirrors and rain-sensing wipers (rather than intermittent wipers). On the plus side, the 4Runner has awesome 18" wheels and no "barn door".
My last car was a Lexus, and the main reason I went back to Toyota was that the "Lexus Experience" is nice but the exclusivity (meaning fewer dealers) and expensive service department were two big turnoffs. I like having a good Toyota dealership 10 minutes away with reasonable service costs.

I wouldn't mind if the Canadian 4Runners would let you individualize the options as I gather that US 4Runners can be somewhat customized.

We are stuck with 3 models being "Base, Sport and Limited". Another item is making navigation an option as well.

The states are about the same. Sunroof, 3rd row seating, and JBL get mixed around.

Not really if it's based on availability on the dealer's lot. Ordering then yes, there are more choices and configuration tweaks. In northern California, navigation is only found on V8 Limiteds. Just about all the trims come with a moonroof and spoiler. Only 2WD are SR5 V6s. So what are available options, aren't really optional and more like standard equipment or not available depending on the trim.

Right, I know that--12 total trim combinations in V6 or V8, 2WD or 4WD. My point was the only 2WD 4Runner in NorCal are V6 SR5s, won't find a 2WD in another trim or with a V8.
