Feedback/Review of the Wheeler T12 Rear Coils?

Thanks for the feedback! Please let us know how they settle.

I/m assuming you're about stock weight in the back?

Yes, trunk full of tools but I suppose that's negligible.

I took measurements again yesterday and it seems driver side is now much closer to 1.5" however pass side is over 2" ?? I've been busy but when I have time I'm going to level the front with some trim spacers I got and then if there's still a big difference in the rear I'll add a trim spacer to the driver side.

Here's the stance now (well, yesterday)

I've got these on my rig, had them for months now. They're awesome. I have Icon 2.5 extended coilovers in the front, and icon 2.0 remote resi's in the rear. I had FJ springs on the rig's rear for a while before switching over to the T12. HUGE improvement in the ride. massive. It wallowed with the FJ springs, now it doesn't, but the ride is not necessarily stiffer, just more controlled. I have a little bit of a jarring ride in the rear, but that's been present since I switched to the 2.0 remote resi's from Icon. Overall, buy the springs. They're phenomenal. Enjoy!

2 weeks and 1000 miles later still at 2" (both sides are even now).

I put the T12's on with Icon 2.0's yesterday but the lift is currently at 2.5". Hoping these level out to 1.5" as stated.

Have yours leveled out since you put them on a few months ago?

Any updates??????

possibly paired with 5100s? :dammit:
Since i started this thread ive installed an ICON stage 1 kit.

Im thinking of reinstalling the T12s b/c the FJ rear coils wallow with the ICON rears and i cant find a true 1.5" rear lift coil with the same spring rate the T12s.

So how much have your T12s settled? How long did it take and are you closer to the advertised 1.5" benchmark?

I have the icon rear springs and wouldn't mind having a set of 1.5" of lift in the rear. Guess I could just build a cargo storage and fill it with full of crap!

interested in seeing how these settle, I will be installing 6112s on front and looking for springs which dont put you over 2 in by much

Any long term thoughts on the t12's?

Also there are now T13 looks like a shorter lift.

I was thinking about next month replacing the used FJ springs with the t1s and t12s.

Anybody have a recent review on these? I'm looking for some coils to replace my daystar spacers. Would these pair well with 5100s?

I'm very pleased with them. I have them paired with Fox 2.0" shocks, and they ride much better than the FJ / 5100 combo I had previously. As far as lift, I do think they settled in the 1.5" - 1.75" range, although I haven't measured recently.

I've put about 15k miles on my T12s with 5100s. For a while I wasn't sure if I liked the combo. The rear end would dance all over the place on really rough terrain at speed. But when I extended my sway bar end links to remove the preload from lifting, everything felt much better. For the price, it's a very good set up and a solid upgrade if you want a stock like ride with a lift.

Huh....

Had a similar issue but under braking @ fwy speeds. The rear coils would basically release there energy, lifting and destabilizing the rear end. SO if you had to redirect the truck in the process of this happening it would swerve. Since them i ve installed dobinson 323 coils that provide about 1.25" lift rear lift and the truck handles alot better as a result.

On another note i have heard from someone who installed the T13s mentioned earlier in this thread on a 07' and claims that the lift is around ~1". So know its nice to know we have more options and better data at our disposal to make better decisions....

Thanks for the replies. Any ideas why these coils would need sway bar end link extensions? Or is that any new coils could benefit from them? I'm kinda weary of the T12s after reading a few of these reviews.

They don't technically need longer end links, but they can improve suspension performance and feel, if you can even notice it. A lot of people can't.
The sway bar is designed to reduce body roll when cornering and improve vehicle stability. At normal ride height the sway bar should not be applying any forces to the axle or chassis, but it will as soon as the suspension starts to move. If you add a lift kit, of any brand, it has the same effect as if the factory suspension is extending and the sway bar will try to resist and will always be exerting a force on everything. In my case, I could feel the effects when I went over bumps because the sway bar was helping the coils to compress initially and resisting them more than they should to extend. It just didn't feel right, but the longer links fixed this and it felt normal again. But like I said, I don't think most people can even tell.

They work great.. 5100s set to 0.. T1/T12 combo.. replaced 95k mile xreas.. I did get a 1/4 top poly spacer for driver side slant.. and I reclamped my cv boots bc they started to sweat.

I do think for Christmas I will buy the extended links and poly sway bar bushings. Just don't have time to put it on right now.

I just installed the longer links and I'm concerned there's very little clearance between them and the lower arms, it looks like if I bottom out the arms will hit the links. I hope I'm wrong.

Also I thought a lot about the geometry of the whole thing and I'm not sure they will actually accomplish anything but we'll see on my drive home tonight.

EDIT after 30 miles hwy drive

I can't honestly feel a difference.

When I took off the old links (which were only 2 years old and already rusted and one was bad...) the swaybar was pretty loose (I could easily move it by hand) and under no tension, which is why I am not sure this mod does anything. But it's cheap and easy so whatever.
