Any codes?

The manifold looks good; how about painting the emblem red?

I may have a working injector around here for the 5vz; if I do, it is yours to go with the other 5 known working ones.

I bet your now able to swap out injectors faster than anyone else on this site! haha Hope you get it up and running man, I'm digging the black manifold.

hope the injectors work FM, for a second there i thought about painting my intake ricer red after seeing the paint job :hiding:

Injector number 6 was ****!! again!! so i replaced it with rob with one of the known good injectors. runs like a top!

I hope I didn't confuse anyone by posting under robs(fightman) account. This is his friend Lee that's been helping him with his 4runner. Just thought I'd introduce myself.

I know Fightman's name isn't Lee so that threw me a little. LOL.

Welcome Lee and good work, we all like Fightman on the forum, thanks for helping him out.

Again, Lee proved to be indispensable! We used his Scan tool as the CEL threw another code, (Cylinder 6 Misfire). We then replaced the bad injector with one of my old ones, and now it's running great. At least I know have 5 out of 6 of his injectors in there now.... :gun5: I'm thinking of asking for a partial refund for all the trouble this has caused me.

Lee figures I should ask for $40.00 back, plus the cost of any shipping to send him back his other junk injectors......

What do you guys think???

Ya that seems fair. If not ask for a little more, say 60.

Make sure you put emphasis on how hard it is to replace the injectors multiple times.

I messaged the seller today, and am now awaiting his response:

"Chris,

I received your package on Monday, and began to install the injectors yesterday morning. Within a few hours, I tore everything down, removed my 5 old and 1 of your previously shipped injectors (Cylinder 1). I then installed all 6 of your newly shift injectors, and put everything back together. Immediately, I attempted to start it up, but the truck would not start. After several seconds (approx. 20 secs.), it finally started, but ran really poorly. Applying the throttle, would only bog down the engine, and the entire engine shook under the hood. It seemed like it was only running on 5 cylinders again. Both myself and my friend (a mechanic), troubleshooted the issue, and ruled out any spark or Vacuum related issues. I then turned the engine off, and decided to call it a day (8 hours after initially starting the job)

After a couple of hours, I decided to try and diagnose it again. After some more time, the truck threw an CEL which was diagnosed by a Scan Gauge tool as a "Cylinder 6 Misfire". We then tore the engine down again (4th time), and decided to change out the injector on Cylinder 6, with one of my old injectors. Once that was done, we put everything back together, and started the truck up, with no issues. The truck stayed idling for about 10 minutes, and we then took it for a test drive, with no issues to be found.

It would seem that again, one of the injectors you sent me in this new package, was defective. As a result, between the 1st set and this set, I've had to tear apart that engine 4 times to do a job that could have been done with one tear down. I've had to park the vehicle for several weeks, while diagnosing and then waiting for injectors to arrive, have endured a great amount of stress and frustration with this issue in the process.

I would like to receive at least a partial refund for all of my troubles, and would like to receive $40.00 in return.

I hope that you can agree with this request, and await your response.

Thank you,

Rob."

So no response for the seller, and the Hard Starts have begun again! FML!

Again, only when the engine has run, sat for an hour, and then restarted! I'm going to request a full refund, send him his junk, and buy one here locally to match my 5 old ones!

I'm ready to crush that man's skull right now!!

Arrrghhh. Sorry to hear you're still having issues. Hopefully you'll get it sorted. I guess the one thing that might come out of it is that you'll save some of us here from dealing with the same thing. Not much consolation I'm sure.

Fightman,

I am sorry to hear you are still having troubles. What led you to conclude it was the injectors? I would be surprised more than 1 failed. Many of us are still on stock injectors at > 175k miles. How much was the full set of injectors, a few hundred bills?

I hate to see someone throwing a lot of cash into parts that might not fix the issue.

So the eBay seller doesn't want them back? I am not surprised since any car part used once is unsellable as new.

The reason I know it's the injectors he sent me is, when I install my old ones, leaving only one if his, the truck runs fine. It only seems to do it when his are installed in there.

The injectors I speak of, are Refurbished Denso fuel injectors, but for some reason they flow way too much, and flood the engine at start up.

He as since emailed me back, advising that he will refund me the $40.00. I sent him this in response:

"Chris,

Thanks for your response. I don't see the e-mail in my inbox...but that is here nor there. I've had a chance to intensively test the truck today, and have found the Hard Start issue has returned again. Again, only when the truck has been driven, parked for about an hour, and then restarted. It would seem as though they are also leaking too much fuel into the cylinder.

I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with this at this point. I'm now looking at having to tear everything apart for a 5th time, and replace 5 more of your injectors with my 14yr old functioning ones just to get it running properly again. I'm doing this, because I can't have the truck sitting in my driveway for 2 weeks, waiting for USPS and Canada post to get you your refurbs back so I can get a full refund, and I can't afford to pay another $190.00 for a refurbed injector from the local parts store. I've recently been let go (Company Restructuring) from a job that I have worked at for the better part of the last decade, and have to watch my spending right now.

I'm really disappointed that this transaction has gone this way. I'm always willing to give private businesses my money, over large companies, because I know that these owners are hard working, dedicated, individuals who truly care about their customers and their reputations.

I'm thankful for the partial refund, but would be grateful if you would refund the retail for 5 of your injectors, as I will only be using 1. Eitherway, my paypal address is: PAYPAL EMAIL

Thanks again for your consideration in this matter.

Rob."

We'll see what he says.

sorry man that sucks! I hope you get it all figured out, I would be having the same reaction as you if that happened to me.

Just don't take it out on your rig. lol I saw this guy the other day going crazy inside his civic. He was banging his head on the steering wheel, punching all kinds of stuff inside his car, yelling out like he was turning into Hulk or something... anyway man, i hope this issue gets resolved!

Don't you worry man.... I won't be hitting the truck! That's what my heavy bag and double end ball are for! :D
