BTW, something I've been working on, finally became a reality thanks to another forum member!

For the past 7 or so years, I've been wanting to get a rear spoiler for my rear hatch...but with no luck! I couldn't find a decent deal on one, and was about to give up that idea when I saw CJ80 Cruiser's thread on the 4Runner he was parting out!

Lucky for me, we were able to strike a deal, and I now have a little package in my possession!

And a shot of the contents:

Spoiler Install

Alright, so I decided to take a cruise to my dad's place today and get the spoiler installed, as well as change over my Brand New Bosch plugs back over to NGK Duel Electrode plugs from the Dealership.

Before doing so, we decided to have some fun with the kids, pull each other on sleds with my dad's quad, and also drive around the hay field with our trucks. I broke trail with the 4Runner, and my dad later followed with his 87 Chevy Half Ton and plow.

After finishing up with the fun stuff, dad and I went into the garage and got started on the rear spoiler install. First we ligned up the spoiler where we wanted it, then we used a small punch to mark the holes for the mounting points. Once everything was punched, we drilled out some small pilot holes, and then some bigger holes.

We decided to use some Rivets to mount the spoiler on the hatch, since we already had the rivets, and didn't want to go purchase a Rivnut tool. I also put some 3M Two way tape on the bottom of the mount feet, and then riveted them down to the hatch.

I'm planning on taking the spoiler back off in the next few days, and give it a good coat of Plasti-dip and some Semi-Gloss Rust paint. I'll post pics of that when I'm done.

Thanks man, I'm a pretty lucky guy. Now if I can just get a job....got let go 2 weeks ago, but currently on Company paid severance package until as late as the end of August....hoping to find work soon though!

Bright side of things, I have tons of time to do some cheaper mods to the truck!

Good luck to ya Fightman on the job search. My friend was out of work for more than six months (close to eight I think), but with perseverance and determination, he found what he was looking for plus his new job paid more.

Have a good time painting the spoiler. Now you have plenty of time to change the valve cover gaskets.

I'm really hoping it doesn't take me more than 6 months to find work...that would be tough....considering I've got a family, and a mortgage.....

As for the Valve Cover gaskets....probably gonna tackle that soon....but 1st have to solve my starting issue.....

Sorry to hear about the job Fightman. I got "let go" last March, 3 weeks before we got married. Did $22.8M in sales for them in '10 and that was the thanks I got. However, I recovered pretty quickly, I started the new job as soon as I got back from the wedding/honeymoon.

It's a tough job market but put yourself out there aggressively and you'll be alright.

Fightman - You've got a long thread and I'm not embarrassed to say I've read all of it! Great mods and equally well-done write-ups and pics.

I've got some ideas brewing based on your rig.

How do you maintain for 14 years?

Honestly, regular oil changes, fixing whatever breaks, oil spraying it for the winter, keeping it clean and waxed during the summer....is all I've really done to keep it in as good of shape as it is in.

Don't get me wrong....she's not perfect....but with mostly original paint, original engine and trans, and most other components....I'm pretty happy with the truck!
