Got a couple of accessories for Mean Green for those long secluded drives up to work in Oba....



Starting to gather a pretty good supply of emergency tools and supplies for the truck. Ever since I ditched it last winter and had to wait nearly 2 hours for someone to pull me out.... I'm since learned that a good Emergency Kit is needed when traveling in the back woods of Northern Ontario.
 
Thanks man.... just bought a new fender trim piece from Red October.... and have been pricing out new fenders.... but looking like at least a couple of hundred bucks... :/
 
Update:

I'm now in a position to get my fender replaced/repaired, but the body shop I was hoping to do business with, seems to be dodging me?? lol! I can't even get a quote from these idiots.... guess I'm still looking for a bodyshop... :/
 
Well.... got a fender... but gotta find a bodyshop to paint it for me. Now... killing some time, refurbishing some of the mods I've done....

Started with removing the old ones and then installing new TRD Decals....







Here's a couple pics of her better angles.... until I get the front passenger fender replaced and painted... :p



 
Well.... got my driving lights all sorted out again... not sure why they quit working.... but now they are set up with a toggle switch in the dash again. Slightly nicer toggle than the old one....




And of course... I can't just work on my junk, and not take a parting shot... or two ;)



 
Well, my 4Runner had fallen behind as a priority lately, as I had bought a house and have been working on it extensively. To top it off, I have been modding my 05 Tacoma and only had 2 days a week to spend with my family, as I live in a bush camp all week while at work.

That being said, I recently had minor surgery done, and had to take 2 weeks off of work, in order to recover. With all that spare time, I decided to do some restoration work on my beloved 4Runner. The engine compartment was looking pretty bad.... the previous paint job I did on the air intake plenum was almost completely burned off, and there was rust all over the place.



My first plan of action was to remove the intake plenum and degrease it using some brake cleaner. After the plenum was degreased, I wire wheeled the bigger areas, and used some steel wool to reach the nooks and crannies. After that was all done, I sprayed it down again with the brake cleaner, and blew it all out with my air compressor.



Cleaning was followed by treating the throttle body to some Duplicolor rust sealant, and a paint like that is kinda like POR15. I covered everything that was rusted with this procedure. Once the black pieces were cured, I masked those off, and painted the plenum with VHT High Heat Manifold paint.





I didn't like the flat finish of the Manifold paint, so I clear coated it with Duplicolor High Temp Clear coat.

Once everything was dry, I put it all together...







Oh... and if you look closely enough... you'll notice that I actually took the time to clean some of my engine compartment.... you guys should feel special... It hasn't really been this clean since I bought the truck in 2004. :barf:

Also, I've added another TRD emblem to the ISR mod, and painted it all gloss black. :boxing:

I thought you would have used green!

I don't know how you deal with that salt. It would make me cry.

Make sure the insurance adjuster for your work is not hiding in the bushes, watching you do all those repairs while recouping from surgery. Or even worse, if you hear what sounds like a bunch of bees, it may be a drone looking down. I had one follow me the other week down the street.

HA HA! I don't know how much trouble they'd go to, to do that here.... I'm litterally 8hours away from an adjuster, here. That being said.... I got a vasectomy.... and the healing took a little longer than expected... no big deal. Heck... the Dr. was the one who told me I should take another week off. :)

As for the green.... HA HA! I couldn't find too many colors in High Temp paint.... My choices were: Flat Black, Flat Silver, Flat Red, Chevy Orange, Gloss Black, and clear. I opted for the flat red, and used the gloss coat to brighten it up.

The salt / rust up here, definitely sucks. I'd love to own a truck from Southern States, or even Alberta. I look at your chasis pics, and pine for it! lol!

You don't know how much pain it caused me to read your reply. I hope the Dr. was good at tying knots. Heel up.

Here in the states insurers (Washington DC and elsewhere) are now using drones to keep a close tab on folks so they don't file false claims, etc. that cost the company money.

Oh... I have no doubt... lol! Healing is going well, and anticipating a return to work on Sunday morning.

BTW, just an update on my fender situation.... I made an appointment with a bodyman here locally.... but won't get me in until July 6th. :/ The bright side of things.... he's supposed to be the best guy in town for work... let's see how it works out. :D
 
Picked her up today! Truck looks damn good! :) He managed to get it to match pretty good.... blended the color into the door... and I paid cash for a tax free deal. Cost me $750.00 out the door....

 
Thanks man! The house is coming along.... lots of projects on the go right now! lol! I had company for 3 weeks, and had a ton of help from my parents, inlaws, and neighbors, and we got a bunch of stuff done. That being said, nothing is complete yet.... but almost there. lol!

First thing I did this summer was finish installing the wood siding the P.O quit doing, and replaced those awful looking cedar shingles he had on the side of the house.



Then I build myself a bigger driveway, by adding a little road to my woodpile and propane tank, which runs between my house and gazebo.

I've since laid down some crushed stone.... but don't have a pic of this yet. Once that was done... we decided that we were tired of living with one bathroom to share with 3 girls and myself.... so plans began to build a bathroom, in a place where the P.O planned to build himself a sitting room on the second floor. To me, it was a stupid idea of his, as he already had a livingroom on the main floor, and a rec-room in the basement. Why add another, when the house only had one bathroom??? lol!

Here we are, ripping up the floor to see where all the plumbing is going to go....



Then we decided... we needed a nice big shower....




While this going on, my mom and dad also helped us install all new gyprock in the house....



And while this was going on.... we kept working on the bathroom....








The renovations are coming along.... bathroom is 75% complete.... and I'm hoping to get that done before I go back to the bushcamp on Sunday.... I'm supposed to be on vacation right now... but got so much to do.... lol!

Sorry for filling up my thread with house crap.... just thought I'd show you guys, why I've been so busy.... lol!

Looks excellent Fightman. Your have been quite a busy guy.

I guess your tile does fine by using cement to apply the tile to the plywood. Here in humidity central on the ocean the subflooring is usually thinner for the bathrooms so that a thin (1/8") sheet of Durock can be laid on top for tile. Or some guys use thin chicken wire stapled to the floor.

I hate plumbing. Kudos to ya for being able to do it. Pex piping is so much better than copper I will say.
