Here's my nicest most up to date pic of the 4Runner, it was taken in the Spring of 2017. It recently underwent some paint work, and had a Sport hood installed.

Added on Grill Insert, using metal mesh found at Home Depot....

Purchased in April of 2004, for nice chunk of change ($21000.00 CAD) with 99911km on the ODO. The truck came with only the factory items, and a new set of BFG All Terrains in the stock size. I drove the truck for about a week, and then decided it needed some mods!

The first thing I did was buy a Bug Guard for the front Hood, and then later adding some headlight covers in order to cover up a rock chip. I then added some Nerf Bars, a light bar and some Westin Lights to the front.

I had the truck for nearly 5 years, and decided it needed some more mods! After finding a pic of a 4Runner on Cardomain with lift and some bigger tires, I decided I wanted to lift this old girl! I ordered the lift, and while waiting for the parts to be shipped, I decided to go on E-bay and get some TRD Off Road decals, and installed some Vent Visors.

Once the lift parts came in, I got my dad to give me a hand to install the OME 890 coils, and Toytec 3" spacer kit with Diff Drop.

Next was time for tires, and after talking with a guy at my local NAPA Autoparts store... I got a set of 33" Maxxis Bighorn Mud tires and some Procomp WHeels for $1500.00! They came mounted and balanced, and all I had to do was install them on the truck!

Here's a close-up shot of the grill insert I made up out of some mesh:

Shortly after doing the grill insert, I decided to do the Deckplate mod:

Next, with the help of my dad, my brother in-law, and my wife.... we built the rear tire Carrier:

THen came the roof rack I build out of recycled Retail Clothing Racks:

Here's what she looked like for about a year:

But soon.... I decided to do some drastic changes.... and those changes came over the next couple of years....

Thanks for the comment! The Nerf bars are made by Westin.......I like them alot.....the carrier is another addition that I like alot.....not sure about the roof rack yet........;)

It's been a while since I updated this, but thinking of upgrading my front setup from spacers to coil and strut assembly soon.....anybody know of a good supplier for the OME setup that ships to Canada?

Awesome 4runner. I love the rims. I want to get the same ones, just dont know if i want chrome or black. I name all my toys too haha. Named my motocross bike Big Birtha. Still trying to decide what i want to name the 4runner. Anyway, how does it ride on the road with the 3 inch lift and gnarly tires? I plan to do the same thing to mine, but im curious as to how it affects the ride on road. Thanks

Love those wheels on your rig! The chrome and green go great together. I think the roof rack looks pretty good. Have you hauled anything up there on it yet?

Thanks for the props! The roof rack has been on my list of things to finish.....still need to wire up the lights! As for using it, I built it mainly to carry a small boat or canoe, but instead of buying either of those, I bought a house. All I've used it for so far, is a clothes line, when I went camping!

Polished her up, and added a new TRD Grill Emblem

I was looking into doing the Satoshi Grill Mod, but decided against it. I've always been partial to my stock grill, over the newer style or Satoshi mod, just thought it needed something extra.......I saw this emblem on a couple of other rigs, and decided just to add it to my stock setup.....turned out pretty good......I think anyway!

That is a fine touch Rob..welcome to the TRD on the grille club. I didn't feel the Satoshi Mod was for my truck either..the front seemed empty. glad I had a pair of 520's to incorporate with it.

Thanks for the compliment Blcktpgsr! It was your rig that finally made me decide to get the emblem, I had been thinking about it for over a year! I too found the Satoshi mod left too much empty space up front, but your setup fills it in quite nicely!

I recently remembered, another mod I did last winter......UnderHood light! Totally made out of some junk lying around my dads shop, but works like a charm!

Small pushdown switch, which when pushed down by the hood, keeps the light off.
P1090043-1.jpg~original

Wired it to the battery, and used some Conduit wrap to clean things up....

P1090041-1.jpg~original

Used a small automotive bulb with a socket......

P1090040.jpg~original

Some say, you don't need a light under the hood, as Toyota's don't break down......but I thought it would be helpful!
