Another little bump.....just hit a new mileage marker with the Runner!

Look what I got for a early BIRTHDAY PRESENT from the Mail Lady!!!
These are the Units I bought from Nordstrom Automotive off E-bay. They come off a 2000 Tundra TRD Access Cab. I paid $160.00 for the pair, plus $140.00 for shipping, and another $25.00 or so for the Customs fees. (Shipping from the US to Canada = MURDER! So total after all was said and done: $325.00.

No spacers, but the wheels have about 4.5" of backspacing.........

Looks good man, roof rack looks different, not saying that it's a bad thing. It actually catches the eye oddly. I'd say cut the end pieces so that it'll be slightly shorter and doesn't stick out too far, but yeah I kinda like it. Hey, I noticed you changed your 4wd shift knob? if so, please share the hows and what?

THanks for the input man! The rack was built to hold a canoe or a small boat on it, so that's why the oddly long cross bars are there.....
As for the shift nob, the stock one unscrews, and you can get a replacement of your liking at any aftermarket parts store. Mine came with these really small screws that clamp the knob down to the stick shift......pretty easy, and dresses up the interior a little. I also did a RICER style pedal kit....he he he!

I don't know what that ride is like, as I haven't mounted them on the truck yet. I'm waiting to get my rear setup upgraded before I mount the Tundra stuff up, as I don't want to be driving with a Reverse Rake....
Your's looks like it's got a spacer installed inside the coil pack too??? That may be too much....not sure. I'm going to be running the small top plate spacer on top, not inside the coil pack......I'm told this is more desireable.

What size spacer are you going to put in? I was thinking a 3/8 for my future set up.

I think that that's what I'm going to be using. It's the top plate spacer I already have installed that came with my Toytec Spacer kit.....
Yeah I will definitely be taking that spacer out. I probably wont use a spacer at all as I like the idea of just a coil lift. Looking forward to seeing yours installed!

You have done some great mods. The rear tire carrier came out great, glad it is still working well. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about those hinges too. Keep us posted as to how long they last.
I like the hood light. Little things like that are great.
I disagree with you on the satoshi mod leaving blank space. I love that clean look. It looks awesome with Blcktpgsr's lights in there as well, his is one of my favorites too, and inspired me to get the TRD badge as well. I was surprised how much I liked it just mounted in the stock grille like yours, it really adds to the look. I am looking for a new grille to do the satoshi mod to (and leave it blank and clean since I have no lights).
You gotta get rid of that rack though. You can obviously fab and weld, make your perfect custom rack. I don't mean to hate on it, but the peices look like they aren't meant to be there. I am sure it did it's job and was quick to make, but now you can take the time to make a good one.
Have you ever looked into the wheel fender flares? They would look great on your rig.

Thanks for the comments man! I hear you about the roof rack, and am somewhat indifferent about it. I am thinking of cutting off the ends that go horizontally from one side of the truck to the other, but actually put them there, so I can put a boat or canoe up there......maybe this winter will prove to be a boring one, and I might get creative with it!
As I mentionned in the other thread, the hinges for the Tire carrier were subject to much debate by many forum members on YT. It's been nearly a year, on the street, the highway, and even off-road, and so far it shows no signs of wear. I think that if it were a swing away carrier, then if would definately fail, but the fact that there are 2 and not much leverage is being applied to them while the carrier is up, is a plus.

Revised my towing package and Tire Carrier......
Decided to replace my center receiver on my tire carrier as the old one was seized inside. While we were in the shop we decided to add some D-Ring mounts, and some extra bracing under the truck for the trailer hitch. In the process of adding the new center receiver, we were not able to save the square locking tube, so we decided to make a new one with round tubing.

Ok, so I got myself some LC coils for FREE! They came off a 93 FZJ80, and were a little dirty and rusty.
Here's a shot of them before I cleaned them up.

Here they after I took a wire wheel to them and Painted them up
Oh yeah, I also got some Trekmasters too, but I don't think they will work with the rear of my 4Runner, as one end of my current shocks have an eye at the bottom, and these have studs at both ends......

I might be wrong but I think I read one time that either toytec or SS. sells an adapter to use these trek masters on the 3rd gen might be worth asking around.

New lift!
So I finally got around to installing my Tundra TRD Struts and LC coils. It took us the better part of the day, but well worth it!
Before w/Toytec Spacer and OME 890 rear coils:
After w/ Tundra TRD Struts (Toytec 1/2 top plate spacer and LC Coils:
Here's some comparisons:
Left is the Toytec spacer on my 4Runner strut assembly, right is the Tundra stuff:
Left is the LC 8 Wraps and Right is the OME 890 Coils:
I have to say, that this swap was worth every penny! Great ride, and I love the stance! The ride is so much better! The 890's with the front spacer gave such a harsh an bouncy ride, compared to Tundra and LC stuff. Not to mention it gave me at least an extra 2" of lift in the rear and about another 1" in the front! I wish I would have taken some before measurements, but was so excited to get started, I forgot!
I ended up stopping at the Local Autoparts store, to return the Spring Compresors I borrowed, and saw this Tundra parked there. I thought it would be fun to take a pic of the 4Runner next to a Full Size Tundra from the same Era and see the difference!
The 4Runner doesn't look so tiny anymore.....
