Wow, I love the color and the look. As a newbie looking for advice on tow vehicles, I would never know this is a '97. I'm in Tennessee and haven't started looking quite yet because we haven't totally made up our minds what we want to get, but I would buy this in a New York minute! A '97 with only 139,000 sounds unbelievable. I know prices could vary wildly from Ca to TN, but what is a reasonable price for a find like this - assuming I could find one in Tennessee? And did you buy from an individual?
I'm sure that any model year would do what we need. We just want to tow a 900-lb PeeWee camper. We are more concerned with the look and the interior capacity for carrying more camping gear.

I also looked for months for the right one. Once I had in my head I was getting an suv then I was going to get the one I have always wanted. I love 4runners especially my favorite the 3rd Gen. Finally 2 weeks ago I found her. A 'cool steel' '97 SR5. I wanted black but I like the grey color. Wish it had as low of miles as yours. Mine has 227k but it's one owner n she took awesome care of it n gave me an envelope w all the maintenance all the way back to the first oil change darn near. Got her for $2000. I freaking love it. I haven't loved a vehicle this much since I had bought my brand new 06 Frontier back in the day (which I sadly flipped into a ditch in the rain. It only had 19k miles on it when I totalled it!) Heart breaking! All I could say was look at my truck! So love the Frontier too. Mine was black also. May she R.I.P anyways awesome looking 4runner.

Well, after over 2 months of searching all of norcal, I finally came across a good-looking 4runner at a decent price with all of the options I wanted.
I previously joined t4r.org as a different username (before i bought the 4runner), but this is my new official username.
It's a 1997 Desert Dune Pearl Limited 4x4 (with rear locker) with 139,000 miles.
It will be my girl's daily driver for a while (until i get the money for some mods) Future plans include basic appearance mods, 2-3" lift, 33" tires, new wheels and sliders.
