Finally found the one

I finally found the exact 4th gen I was looking for. I saw the ad on CL, talked with the guy several times, flew to Baltimore and drove her back to Nashville yesterday. This truck is amazing. It is light years ahead of my 3rd gen. The V8 is amazingly smooth and powerful. I love everything about it.

I have a couple of questions for you guys.

The original timing belt is 8 years old with 64K miles on it. Should I go ahead and change it?
The 4x4 actuator is not leaking thank goodness. Is there anything that can be done to prevent leakage?
Anybody want to buy a Yakima Mega Load Warrior Rack? Came with the truck and I don't need/want it.

Thanks for your advice.

timing belts good for 100,000 just be aware your driving the only interference motor im aware of by toyota (the valves will hit the pistons if the timing belt breaks or slips to far) check your top right timing cover there should be a rubber gromet sealing the cam sensor wire passage into the timing houseing go get one if you dont have one this keeps trash and debree away from the belt. the cam sensor wire should be on a clip attached to the timing cover to prevent interference with the fan.

Check to see when your Differential fluids front, center(transfercase), rear were changed last I prefer to change mine every 30,000 not sure what toyota has to say about that. keep your driveshafts/ universal joints greased.

keep oil up with oil changes, tire rotation blah blah...

Not sure about the 4wd actuator leakage never had an issue.

Inspect your CV boots at 64,000 they should be fine but you never know.

Check your break pads for wear your factory pads should still be in good condition but if one wheels got signifigant wear there might be a sticky caliper hanging around.

And make that thing look like yours!!!!:welcome:

I believe the timing belt change recommendation is 100K or 7 years, which ever comes first.

Nice find!

Nice pick-up! I loved mine - V8 Limited with OEM sport hood.
