Finally pulled the trigger and just got myself the '07 Kawasaki 800SXR in Kawi Green. Also got a double Zieman trailer in black. Waiting for the papers in the mail and gonna pick it up on August 9th in Havasu. Gonna be skiing that whole weekend in Parker, AZ. Anyways, just wanted to share my joy!!!

Congrats!! For those who do not know what this is (e.g. ME), here is a pic of it:

The Kawasaki JET SKI

The big couches (sit-downs) can get really expensive, almost as much as a Toyota Carolla. The stand-ups (Kawasaki 800 SXR and the Yamaha Superjet) are relatively cheap. MSRP is $5999 and $6499 respectively. Got mine for $6250 OTD includes tax, lic, and doc fees. The stand-up is waaayyyyyy more fun than the sit downs but the sit downs are much easier to relax while you ride.

Yeah, that is what i heard...these things get expensive! That is a good price because they were this price a few years ago (at least for a good one).

Congrats again.

SXRs are fun for carving, running bouys but I love my Super Jet. Are you going to race your ski? Any mods planned?

Here is a list of most of the mods on my SJ... R&D Ride Plate, R&D Intake Grate, Sponsons, UMI Steering, Factory B Pipe, MSD Ignition, Dual 44s, ADA Head, UMI Aluminum Handle Pole, Solas Prop, Lightened flywheel, Reinforced hull, foot holds..... and a bunch of other little things.

Stand ups are so much more fun than a sitdown. Remember, sit to pee!!!:D

Sorry my reply is so late... but I was in Parker jet skiing since Thursday. I'm sooo damn sore.
Finally picked-up the SXR. No real mods planned yet. I figure I'm gonna switch out the stock grips first but since the grips will be off, I figure I'll get new bars. Thinking about an electronic bilge pump. For some reason, when the ski was docked overnight, water got in, Only a couple inches but that's a couple inches too much. Once I get better at riding, I figure I'll start with a ride plate and scoop grate... and then?
My girlfriend's friend's husband races and basically he got me in to it. I think racing would take too much of my time so no plans for that yet.
Also, the gfriend wanted a couch soooo... I picked up a brand new '05 Honda Aquatrax F12X GPScape for her for really cheap.

CuzzinOlaf, you race or freestyle? BTW, this weekend, there was a huge boat that caused a huge wake. Tried to cross it and jump but ended up sub-ing it. Gassed it underwater and pulled it through and ended up (somehow) not falling off. Even though it was done by mistake, it was frickin awesome.:D

Yea, when you first start riding you will be sore for sure... but it feels good. I rode a stock SXR this past weekend and it was fun. I would definitely swap out the steering for a UMI if I were to get one along with straight (0 degree) bars. I run two bilges in my SJ but I also end up under the water alot. I always pull my SJ out of the water at night but that is just me. Check out pwctoday.com OR x-h20.com for some good info. The X is more for standup riders and I am sure you can find some good info there. The SXR is defintely more of a race boat. If you can hook up with some local riders and run buoys I bet you'd have a blast. Keep in mind, if you race and get into an accident your insurance won't cover it. Just an FYI.

Good deal on getting the Honda for the wifey. If you can keep her hooked you'll be set. :D

I don't race although I'll run buoys... and if anything am more into freestyle, although learning as I go. I haven't had my SJ long enough to say I am really good so talk to me next summer.

Jumping waves or wakes is ALWAYS a good time. So you jumped and came in nose first? That technically is a sub... Nice on not falling off. Honestly, falling off is half of the fun. You can see how you improve once you don't fall of when trying something new.

Either way, have fun and check out those two forums I mentioned. A lot of good people, good info and good times. Welcome to the standup world... and remember. Sit to pee! :D LOL
