My J-B Weld was no longer any good and I had tossed it some time back so I used some super glue, hoping it will work. Here it is curing.

Loctite Plastics Bonder works well for these. It has a primer and then a type of superglue. Standard superglue doesn't bite into the polyolefins very well. I've repaired a number of little interior tabs with the Loctite product successfully.

That sounds ideal JZiggy. Appreciate you sharing. Looks like they have a few such products, one specifically called "Plastic Bonder," but it seems they might be the same, with an activator...

If this attempt doesn't hold-up, good to know I have another option!

Well, I heard back from RCV:

Hi Tony, sorry to hear that your axles are rusting. We don't have any corrosion resistant coatings on our axle shafts, the black oxide coating is mostly to prevent rusting when stored in inventory. IFS axles are exposed to elements much more than a solid axle and depending on your climate, it will start sooner or later. We do offer nickel plating on all of our products and this will eliminate them rusting. We are beginning to roll out powdercoated IFS shafts these days so this will eventually never happen to anyone. With you having an older set the best thing to do would be to take a bristle pad and remove the rust the best you can and either oil them or paint them.

Sort of what I was expecting... Would have been easier to address before installation of course. Wish I would have known or noticed. They sat in my garage for like two years. I replaced a couple clamps and would have gladly addressed this shortcoming. Rust should come-off easily. Need to find a good tough paint for the job...

EDIT/ADD: While driving in the rain this morning, I put it into AWD and again I heard that rubbing sound in the front axle area, seemingly only on acceleration or load, most prominent when going up an incline. Something likely pertaining to the RCV and ECGS sleeve install...
