ok, so here's an update on the wheel issue... lessons learned, that's for sure!
So I looked online at the American Racing website. No number whatsoever to be found for me to call for verification of the center cap issue- says to contact nearest dealer with questions about wheels....
I reluctantly called Les Schwab and informed them that I thought the center caps for the wheels were the wrong ones (they were sent separately from the wheels), possibly for the 9" rims, since they stick out too far (basically they just barely stick out past the edge of the rim). My guy says that they make shorter center caps and he'd look into it and give me a call right back. I didn't hold my breath...
Five, yes five, days later, he calls me and leaves me a voicemail stating that he went ahead and ordered shorter center caps and they'd be $15 each since they aren't the ones that come with the wheels. Now, I know they are busy, but this place never returns phone calls, and it's like trying to get blood from a turnip to get them to help you out with anything.
So, that's that... they are supposed to call me when they come in. At that point, I need to get my lugs re-tightened anyway, so I'll look at the center caps and decide from there. I don't know if I believe him regarding the center caps not being the wrong ones or not...
Needless to say, I won't be doing any more business with that particular store. :roadkill:
ETA: I'm sure you're wondering why the hubby doesn't get involved with this mess. I'm not one of those wives that relies on my husband to do everything for me and I like to be able to take care of business myself. He works hard, is in the military, and doesn't need to deal with this... but I just might have to get him to go in and drop the hammer if they screw up again!
Update on the tires:
After driving nearly 100 miles on them, they may be a hair louder than the stock dunlops, but it's nothing that drives me nuts. They ride exceptionally smooth and we couldn't be happier with them.

Those wheels are a zero offset with 4.5 backspacing correct? Do you have any rubbing with those at all?

yep- 0 offset, 4.5 backspacing... no rubbing whatsoever.... sit flush with the fender.
I finally got the freakin' CORRECT center caps today! :banana: Had the hubs take the truck down there since I didn't want to deal with the people down there, and lo & behold, they just swapped out the center caps for free instead of charging us $15/each....
Guess they redeemed themselves... somewhat.

How are you liking the Toyo MTs? Do they lug your engine? they are 20lbs heavier each than stock. How does this effect your gas milage?
How are they in Rain and on Highway? suppose to be know as quiet.

As much as it rains up here in Seattle, the Toyo's have been great! Still very quiet and smooth. They don't seem to lug the engine and gas mileage hasn't been affected from what we've noticed. People who've ridden in it with me don't notice any noise from the tires and are amazed at the smooth ride for such beefy tires...
We'll be doing a road trip with it down to Portland next weekend hopefully, so I'll try to keep you posted on how the tires handled.
I bought the Toyo M/T 265-70-17 last Saturday. The tires are a huge upgrade over the stock Bridgestone. So far my impressions are very positive.
We had a lot of rain in SOCAL this week and they handled extremely well on the freeways. The ride of the 4Runner has improved. It feels more steady, the side to side feeling has gone. Also keep in mind I am running them at 45 PSI and it is a lot smoother than I anticipated.
There is definitely an increase in road noise over the stock ones but none that would stop me from traveling on long trips. My wife could not detect any tire noise. Actually now that I have about 250 miles on the tires the noise is either getting less or I already got used to it but if you are looking for zero noise you will be dissapointed.
It's funny my 2nd choice was the also the KM2 but after seeing both and lifting both I went with the heavier tire. The dealer told me that the Toyo's were also a lot better in the rain.
As far as MPG I have seen no difference at all. I am sure the additional weight of the tire might knock it down a bit.
I had a very hard time getting the pricing of these tires down to the BFGoodrich KM2 level. All the dealers were asking from $200-$300 more. I had to make several phone calls to find them in the same price range. I paid $1070 out the door:ybrick: and the KM2 were about $75 less.

Next upgrade is front suspension coilover upgrade. Looking for a 1" lift to level it.
Can't stand the front end diving every time I brake hard. IMO the suspension is very soft for the weight of the vehicle.
Today I took the 4Runner to a desert dry lake. Very impressed so far with the tires.

Those look amazing. Are you going to get coilovers upfront to level? i think 2 inches would level it. What you brand you looking at?
May have to step up to the toyo's. Looks too good.

This is really the look i want for my trail. Looks so aggressive and the sidetread really helps fill the wheel arches compared to stock. I still think they should have but a bit wider wheel on our trucks.
Can you give me an update with your leveling or lift kit? and how the tires do on road and rain? I know they are much heavier than stock, What kind of MPG are you getting?

This is the vision I have when I purchase my 5th. Just not sure if its gonna be a TE or SR5 (wife wants 3rd row). Maybe if I'm extra good on our anniversary she'll be more accepting of the TE. lol

don't know if it's worth resurrecting this thread or not, but here it goes. I haven't been on the forum in awhile, but I ran into my salesman the other day and he was asking about my tires and whatnot... I've got about 4500 miles on them now.
Road trip to Portland back in October went great. Tires handled great- no rain down there, so couldn't gauge their handling really- but we get enough up here in Seattle to make up for it.
I have noticed that if I crank my wheels all the way to the right, there IS slight rubbing.... but I also have a curved, steep driveway so not sure if that makes a difference.
Tired did awesome in the snow/ice that we've had in the past couple of days. No fishtailing or crazy 360's as long as you keep it slow.
Even made it up my driveway with no problems.
We're doing a roadtrip to the midwest this summer with it and the camper so I'm hoping that goes well. Off to buy a weight distribution hitch for it...
