Finally had another 4runner wave at me

I've tried the wave but never any reaction in return. The most attention my 4runner has had was from the driver of an Xterra stopped next to me at a red light.

I got waved at by a lifted white 5th gen the other day coming home from wheeling. Thought for sure I was gonna make the spotted threads, but alas, nothing. hahah.

You mean one like this? Then, I would surely wave.

A lot of big 4Runner guys up in North Georgia. I get quite a few waves back.

I find the wave more common with people who have made an obvious modification to their vehicle. Even if only tires.

But, yeah, mostly it's people living in their own little worlds.

I've yet to get a wave from any gen 4Runner. Not even other trd pro owners.

It's the same story in my 2nd gen Tacoma.

There's no love on the roads of western Oregon. :(

When we bought my wife her 4runner the sales man asked if we were actually going to take it off road and I replied "Hell yeah we are, otherwise I would have bought a crossover to go to starbucks and whole foods like 90% of all 4runner owners"!!!!!!!:sniper:

I notice..

when theyll be on the other side of the intersection or that they stay behind or beside at a slight distance on the freeway and look at your truck.

Think is i do the same thing...

I don't think I've ever gotten a wave, per say, but I have noticed that other 4 Runners will look at/follow me (maybe it's the t4r.org sticker on the back window :wink2: ). I will occasionally stick with other modified Toyotas I find on the interstate. Stayed with a white Tacoma and Tundra for 100+ miles a month or so ago on my way home from visiting family.

That said...where I'm from, if you're in a truck you'll get a one-finger wave from the locals. Especially if it's absolutely covered in mud.

I'm NOT waving...

I'm holding up my hand to block the sun that's reflecting off my hood scoop! :peep:

I actually got a wave from someone a couple weeks ago. They waved at me so I waved back, but they might not have seen it because of how we passed. The dude had a modded early 4th Gen (like a 2004 I think it was). The only obvious mod was a modest lift as I remember. He probably saw me checking out the truck and saw mine is lifted too. I agree that I usually only wave if the truck looks modded. If it's bone stock there's a good chance it's just a regular vehicle to them and don't care that much.

I wave at every single 3rd gen I pass, a little too excitedly sometimes ha, and I have yet to have 1 person wave back. I wish it was like on my motorcycle when every other biker waves at you. Too many people don't care that they're driving 4runners.

I love the motorcycle wave. Makes ya feel so exclusive

re: The Wave

HA!!! Well after waving at every 5th gen I see for months and getting nothing back, I've gotten two wave backs in the past 24hours. F#$k ya! :trophy:

P.S. One was midnight black like mine the other magnetic grey. Both were either SR5 or TE. Guess the Limiteds are too good for us common folk LOL
