Finally in a 4Runner again

Picked up my 2012 Silver TE on Monday. Wanted to get some pictures when I got it home but it's been rainy and cloudy most of the week. So here are some pics I took when I was waiting on the finance guy at the dealership. The last pic is a pic of my old 2004 4Runner that I traded in on a 2011 F150. Kept the F150 for a year but just had to get my 4Runner back. I missed it that much!!

Already have the AVS bug deflector II ordered and hoping to order a Gobi Stealth or BajaRack next week along with N-Fab nerf bars. Still undecided on which rack to get.

Beauty. I like the silver TE the best. The silver/black mix gives it a good agressive look. I was impatient and my local dealer made me a great deal on the black TE so that's what i ended up with but still wish I waited. Nice TE!

OMG, that thing is hideous! I would be embarrassed to be seen in such a POS.......

Just felt like being more different today. :zoom:

Give a mini review of the 2011 F150 including why you went away from it, if you don't mind. Congrats.

Just admit it, you missed the hood scoop.

LOL that's part of it.

I had the F150 Platinum in black, 5.0L V8. It was a great truck but wasn't for me, just way to fancy for my taste. I was pressured from various people on what I wanted in my next vehicle and the truck wasn't it. But instead of listening to my gut and going with another 4Runner I listened to other people. regretted every minute of it. Here's a pic of the truck.

Very nice. Did you end up sticking with Koons? I shot them an e-mail on a whim about a few 4Runners they had on their lot and their internet price (starting price) was MSRP, dead on.

F150 was my other choice, I ended up with the 4runner, I could have been equally happy with either but in different ways. I love my 4runner and if I am lucky, I will add an F150 someday and have both. You are lucky you waited and were able to get the newer entune stereo, I missed it by a few months.

Never let someone else decide what car you are going to drive and pay for. I have a buddy who tries tell me what I "should" buy, he never asks me what I want, only tells me what he wants. He is now bankrupt and trying to give me financial advice.

Yes went with Koons. Went to Carmax first and they are no hassle, they said $37.482 for a silver TE. Went to Browns Toyota and they said they could match it. Contacted Koons and Jeff Schuette said he would beat both offers. The MSRP on mine was a little over $40,000. Paid $37,000 + a few thousand from my F150 had to be moved over.

I was sticking to my one price of $36,000 but we kept going over and over price. Was close to walking out, he knew if I left I wouldn't be back. Not driving an hour back to the dealership again. Me and my wife were both tired by this point, and she was happy with the $37K as she pays all the bills and will see the monthly payment coming in every month.

Checked with a few other dealers after the fact asking them online what they're best deal would be and most were around the mid $37,000 - $38,000 number. So I am happy with the deal but it just sucks having to go through some aggravating back and forth on price.

I agree with you. My wife was the major one in my ear saying she liked this and liked that. Can't really blame the people that were pressuring me, I could have said no I'm getting what I want but I didn't do that.

I would definitely get an F150 in the future but will be keeping my 4Runner this time around.

Thanks for the input on the F150. It seems Ford has knocked one out of the park with the 2011 F150, this is why I asked. That is coming from a chevy guy.

Also, it's always interesting when someone goes from something that big to something quite a bit smaller or the other way around. Or in your case, both. Thanks again. Congratulations on the new ride.

Thanks DDM4.

Congrats on the TE looks good. Does the bug deflector really help much?

I recently went from a 2004 Grand Cherokee to the Trail Edition and one thing that I have noticed is this T4R sure kills a lot more bugs, I am constantly cleaning the windshield.

I guess it is because the windshield is less of a slope or less aerodynamic or something, but sure does collect them fast.

Haven't gotten it on the road yet but I usually use the bug deflectors to keep the rocks from hitting the front of the hood. I had nicks and dents all over the front of my hood in my old 4runner and started getting them on my F150's hood and I barely had that truck for a year. There is always construction of some kind going on around where I live and rocks are always being kicked up.

Ok thanks, I have never had a deflector on any of my other vehicles, but am now considering getting one for my 4Runner.

Congratulations on a great looking 4Runner. I'll be picking up a twin to your TE, this coming Friday, May 18th. Can't wait.

Silver rocks (but so does, black, gray, red, blue...)!

I too am just back... I went from a 2007 SE to a MDX because I changed jobs and thought I wanted more of a car ride. Nope! Just grabbed a 2011 Limited in Silver a few weeks ago and I'm loving every minute of it. I have nothing bad to say about the MDX, it's a great vehicle. But the 4Runner just feels "right" whereas the MDX never quite felt like home. Glad to be back on here... Now for some mods. First I think will be HID lights!
