For 2014+, DRL is probably the one close to impossible to do since it is voltage regulation from either the ECU or the super pricy solid-state relay. It regulate the voltage to the high-beam/DRL 9005 bulb between 6V and 12V (I havent verified this claim personally yet).

BTW, I am looking for some multi-states switches for our trucks. I want ones that fit into the stock push buttons slots, but have functions like our dome light...... off-state1(door) -state2 (on).

High current, solid state automotive relays are about $10 retail. Although Toyota does charge $250 for an empty 16GB SD card, so I'd imagine the dealer would charge $150 for their rebadge relay. Also, voltage regulation does not occur in a relay.

An ECU is an Engine Control Unit. Used to control valves, injection, air fuel ratios, etc. It won't have anything to do with your lighting. Although I guess ECU can stand for Electronic control unit, which is just a simple microcontroller and houses many relays, logic circuits in a modular plug-and-play unit. Unless you have the interface guide to program this, DIY'ers won't be utilizing this much unless they roll their own.

As an engineer this thread scares me. I bought this wiring harness off ebay and just plugged it in... *shudders*

Then as an engineer you need to realize regular people do stupid shit every day. This falls under the "I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you" category. Not saying this thread topic is stupid or brilliant either. Just generally speaking. Oh, and engineers do stupid just as well as everyone else....

Yes they do! I try to pretend they don't but I'm reminded quite often that they do.

I've been known to say, "here hold my beer, watch this", blow things up with tannerite, fly and jump out of perfectly good aircraft; although not at the same time!

No you don't have to plug it back in- should work just fine.

If I JUST wanted to make the fogs STAY on with the Hi's, (not need to be fully independent, just work as normal), is there an easier version of this mod in your thread?

All the Gen 4 mods for that looked pretty easy. But I want to do it on a 2016...

I think it would still be the same amount of work, (you would need to add a relay). FWIW this mod looks worse than it is if your not used to getting into your dash, but its not so bad and the end result is glorious. Fogs stay on with high beams (as they should) and now I have LED fog DRL since I did the simple DRL disable mod. The combination of the 2 mods yields pleasing results.
