Fire Extinguisher Mount Locations- Looking for ideas.

I was looking into the fire extinguisher mounts, I believe it was the Wits End. After I added up the costs of it all and the room and overly thinking the weight, I decided on an Element fire extinguisher. They are much smaller, lighter, never expire, and safer for my electrical, especially my Battle Born batteries in the trailer. I think I paid $65 each shipped on Black Friday. Bought one for my trailer and one for my Runner.

always seen these floating around but never saw any stories from anyone with actual usage. the demo video they use doesnt really give me any confidence in the product unfortunately.

I have mine mounted on the drivers side with your first mount - I had a second on the passenger side but the wife was not thrilled with it there so its gone - So far no issues other than cleaning the area requires removal every so often due to all the winter salt/accumulation ( I had to cut the back of the weather tech matts to get everything to fit )
I like this spot the best due to access - however I admit these are small extinguishers and if you have never used one on an actual fire its hard to understand how fast you have to be to get things put out before you run out of material.

Does the front seat mount limit the ability to move the seat forward or backwards? That would be an issue for me.

I have the Wits End. Works great. Also works as a good place to store my Ram mount when my windshield sunscreen is in place. I don't even know it is there while driving. I had to modify the way I get in ever so slightly with my right leg to keep from hitting it. I don't have any issues now hitting it. You probably wouldn't have to make any modifications to the way you get in if the extinguisher was shorter.
Seats will move forward quite a bit. You would have to be rather short for it not to work. I think I read somewhere that someone's wife couldn't use it and she was 5'5". I was able to move mine up pretty far so I guess it depends on what position you normally drive. I would think most 5'5" people could use it.

Yes it does. I had to remove my Wits End mount because my girlfriend is shorter than I am and for her to move the seat forward enough, the mount got shoved into the front seat plastic. I'm 5'11" and I had about 1" or so of room between the seat and mount. My GF is 5'-4".

I am 6 ft. even. From where I have my seat set, I can move it up 5 and 5/8 inches. So I would guess this will work for anyone 5'7" or taller unless you have short legs and a long torso.

I don't understand you're comment, the Element put the fire out.
There are some other videos demoing the products effectiveness.

It does. In the pic the seat is all thy way back with no way to bring it forward. It's location is by far the most efficient, but sucks the seat can't go forward.

It really all depends on the size you get and how you envision using it.
I have an Element next to the drivers seat for a “GTFO” moment. H3R Halguard on the back window molle for emergency response.
Behind the front seat seems like a nice spot for quick access to a larger extinguisher, I just don’t have the room personally.

These look pretty good to me I just ordered a couple, a smaller one for my ORP and a larger one for the garage. I already have the other type too but these look to be less of a mess.

Yeah I agree, the video shows a surface fire of burning liquid, probably lighter fluid. If you have a real, that puny little thing will only get you in trouble.
Get a min 2.5lb ABC bottle. ABC works great, but it makes a mess, you won't get it out of your upholstery and it tastes like crap. If you accidentally eat it, you get a hacking cough for about a week.
Other options are chemical (FE-36/Novec), CO2 or Water. ABC is the best bang for the buck.
If it's buried underneath 3rd row, it won't help you much when you need it. Think "where can I get from the driver's seat without drama."
This might be a good option. But please don't use some crappy mount and put some padding around it so you don't knock yourself out. :redbrick:

BTW if you have a fire bottle they do expire. Check your dates, get them serviced or replaced.

H3R Performance (pricey though). We used the HalGuard in Baja b/c you would not get the “mess.” ABC in the pit.
Agree you need to ensure you won’t have a torpedo buzzing around the interior due to a poor mount. Buy the right size tank for the application you want (escaping the vehicle vs putting out engine fire, etc).

Sorry, I should have specified. The seat mount we have in the pic is from H3R. It uses the two front bolts going through the floor.
We'd be interested in seeing close-ups of the Wits End mount. It might be a better option.

he hits the nail on the head. in the video, it just looks like the surface of the engine is on fire. most of the engine fires ive seen look much more intense than what's shown in the video.
