Fuel System Cleaning $89.99: This has made such a difference in my sisters camry raising the MPG from 13 to 20 and pick up so OK with this :wink2:.
Collant System Service $89.99: hasn't been done since 58g and was wondering about this and now since you all said timing belt doesn't need to be done every 60gs and have 114000 miles on it figured it will hold to around 150g which will take me 5 years. OK with this :wink2:
Brake Fluid Exchange $69.99: Never would have thought of this, i have bleed brakes but never flushed whole system. Guy said sediment builds up in the lines and could clog them off so figured why not. What do you think of this :frisky:?

Now i know could have done some of this myself but it's easyer just to let them handle it and dipose of the fuilds than me.

What does a $90 fuel system cleaning entail and WTF on your sister's camry?! I've never heard of such a drastic change from cleaning what amounts to some tubing, pump, and filter... good on her though!

before the cleaning when you steped on the gas it felt like something was holding it back but after the pick up is much better. when you hit the gas it takes off now and yes the MPG had changed that much. 3M makes a kit sold on amazon but takes a little doing and i'm not into doing anything anymore. Brake Fluid Exchange was something what i never figured ever being done or would need.

Brake fluid is highly hygroscopic (absorbs water aggressively) and when the fluid heats up this absorbed water can boil. This is a very bad thing for brake performance and not good for avoiding corrosion in your working parts whether it boils or not. When it is new it is clear; as it absorbs water, it gets dark.

I do it every two or three years which is about 40k. I'd be more OK about that than the fuel system thing. This could be a can of cleaner and maybe a throttle body cleaning or it could be more.

ok so the brake thing was long over do, now i know to have this done more often than every 114000 miles :bravo:. The fuel system cleaning made such a difference in my sisters car that i'm ok with the cost. Going on a long drive this weekend so i'll see if made a difference. My MPG driving around town was around 15 mpg, very sad.

I'd also look into replacing plugs (duals) and wires (NGK) as well as an OEM fuel filter for better MPGs.

Also clean your MAF and throttle body if the cleaning system did not address the latter.

it was all done little over 100gs, next time will be around 160gs. I think Toyota wants pulgs every 60gs.

I would be cautious about the timing belt. has it ever been changed? rubber still deteriorates and could start to strip the teeth off the belt. I guess if you want to see how far you can go its just a tow to your shop, no damage.


the fuel system service works and that's actually a good price on the service. curious to see what machine they use. ours is a blue point fsm. it hooks up to shop air and you screw in a can of cleaner. regulate the pressure and disable the fuel pump. it runs the car in pure cleaner... something seafoam can't do.

the coolant system flush I question. easy enough to try a home. but about .8 hours charged it sounds like. kinda high.

yes belt was done 55 - 60k. it's better to let them handle coolent than me.

what tubing :shrug:. If your talking my sisters camry, yes MPG and pickup did incress after fuel system service. I guess her system was really junked up, but it really made a big difference even if no one thinks so :boxer:.

someone asked about this on another site what firestone does with a fuel service and this explains it. More than just cleaning some tubes :withstupid:
