First impressions of the new Downey lift

Well, had a chance to work out the new lift offroad this past weekend. Everything from flat dirt roads to loose rocks to uphill climb in uneven road with large rocks.

Flat dirt roads: This was mostly at speeds around 40 mph. Control was good and suspension felt very solid.

Loose rocks: Control was ok. I did tent to slide around a bit more than before the lift.

Uphill on uneven road: Lots of ruts and rocks. BIG difference! The extra ground clearance was very noticable and the front end did not bounce as much as before. Felt more tight coming down the back side of a rock. Before I would cringe thinking I was going to smash down on my bumper

As you might recall, I put on some 275/70/17 tires. I experienced no rubbing of any kind. I don't think I has full flex, but it was close.

The funny thing is I tore up one of my brand new MT/R's on the first trip in the dirt. I could not belive it! Had the certificates so it cost me $50 for another certificate + mount and balance. I thought these things were supposed to be bullet proof!!!

I can't believe that they don't come from the factory this way!

I'm getting about 19 but I live in Arizona and we use the AC 100% of the time right now. I was getting about 20-21 before the lift.

I do notice a slight decrese in power as I have the V6, but nothing would disappoint.

How is the noise level on the MT/Rs?? Is it intrusive at highway speed??

They are louder than the stock tires, but with the windows up and radio on... you really don't notice.

I haven't tried it with the windows down yet. 110 here in Phoenix this weekend!

You're getting 19?!?! Are you sure? is that with the computer or hand calculated? Is that pure highway?? What psi?

19 is what the computer says. I haven't calculated it by hand, but will on the next fill-up.

I have them at 32psi, which is what Discount tire recommended for better tire wear.

is 19 good? I normally get about 21-22 with my 265 75's so I guess 2 mpg is not that much of a drop for up'ing to a 275
