I am newish to this forum as I joined in October but haven't taken the time to introduce myself until now. Better late than never they say. I bought myself a 1997 T4R SR5 this past October as I needed a 4x4 to get to work (I work on Oil rigs all over Alberta). I have always had a soft spot for 3rd gen 4runners and so it made it easy when it came to deciding on what to buy. I bought it off an older couple who had owned it since 1998 so it's basically a one owner vehicle. It had 428,000km on it but that did not worry me at all as it is a Toyota and the couple had taken great care of it over the years. They had the rear hatch and bumper replaced as it had rusted, recently changed the timing belt, belt tensioner, water pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires...and more. I took it for a spin and knew I had found a winner! I have since done over 12,000km and have performed a few modifications / upgrades. I have installed an Alpine CDE-143BT deck, front and rear Alpine Type-S speakers and tweeters, Satellite radio (with concealed behind the dash cigarette plug), 30inch Hanning Light Bar. I have plans for more in the near future. Next up is a 99+ center console conversion, LED headlight bulds and full suspension upgrade.
